High Point Travels To Richmond for SoCon Clash with #20 Spiders

Friday, March 26th- at Richmond (Richmond, Va.) 5:00 PM (ESPN+)

The High Point University men's lacrosse team (2-4) will travel to Richmond, Virginia to take on Richmond (3-3) on Friday (March 26th) in a marquee SoCon matchup. First face-off will take place at 5:00 PM and the game will be streamed on ESPN+. It's the Panthers' first time playing the Spiders in Richmond since 2018. 

Attendance Note: General fan tickets for Friday's game are sold out. No walkup tickets will be sold.

Matchup History

  • High Point is 3-7 all-time against Richmond. The last HPU win came in 2019 at Vert Stadium as Asher Nolting recorded seven points. The win clinched the 2019 SoCon Regular Season title for HPU. 
  • The Panthers are seeking their first win in Richmond since 2015 in the SoCon Championship.

Across the Bench

  • Richmond is currently the 20th team in the nation, The Spiders are 3-3 on the year with wins over Towson, VMI, and Bellarmine. Richmond opened the season with a heartbreaking result against No. 10 Loyola in overtime 8-7. 
  • Richmond's leader in points is Ryan Lanchbury with 32 points on the season so far. The senior is coming off of a 12 point performance last time out against Bellarmine where he had three goals and nine assists.
  • Dalton Young leads the Spiders in goals with 15 on the year. The sophomore's game-high this season is six which came against VMI last week.

Panther Notes

Nolting Nationwide

Nolting was selected to the USILA Team of the Week this week on Monday. He is the second Panther to receive this honor this season joining Kevin Rogers. The game on Friday will feature two of this week's USILA team members facing off against each other in Nolting and Richmond's Lanchbury.

One 10 Piece Please

Nolting recorded a career-high 10 points in the win with six goals and four assists against VMI. His previous career-high was nine points which he achieved in 2019 against Air Force and then tied earlier this season against #2 UNC.

Cogs! 

Sean Coughlin is coming off of a career-high in goals after he scored four in the win against VMI. Coughlin was one of three Panthers to score three goals against VMI last Friday.

The Panthers are shooting the fourth-highest shooting percentage in the nation with a total of .377%.

Won't You be my Neighbor?

Mr. Kevin Rogers is continuing his dominance this season as he is tied for the most goals scored this season with Nolting for 17 goals. Rogers is also second in points for the Panthers with 24.

Freshman Brayden Mayea is currently 12th in the nation for shot percentage with .542 Mayea has 14 goals on the season.
