The #19 High Point University men's lacrosse team travels to Charlottesville to take on #9 at the University of Virginia on Wednesday (March 3rd). It will be the second time the Panthers have been on national television this season. The game will be played in Klockner Stadium and will be nationally televised ACC Network with Anish and Quint on the call. First face-off will take place at 3:00 PM.

Matchup History

• HPU is 2-3 all-time against UVA with both of their wins over Virginia coming on weekday nights in Klockner. 
• The last time the two sides met was on ESPNU last season where Devon Buckshot made himself known on the national stage as he exploded for five goals and an assist. UVA survived 18-15.

Across the Bench

• The Hoos are led on offense by Connor Shellenberger, the redshirt freshman already has nine goals and nine points on the season after just four games.
• UVA is led by national championship-winning coach Lars Tiffany who led UVA to a national title in 2019.

Asher Nolting is currently eighth in the nation in points per game averaging 6.33. Nolting is the first HPU player to receive SoCon weekly honors this season. Nolting has recorded a point in 41 straight games a streak that dates back to his freshman season.

Mr. Kevin Rogers has not missed a beat in his transition from DIII to DI Rogers is currently tied for first in goals for the Panthers with ten on the season so far. Rogers has scored at least a hat trick through three games with HPU. Rogers is currently two points away from surpassing 200 points in his collegiate career.

200 Club

Against UNC on 2/16 Nolting recorded his 200th career point as a Panther. Nolting currently has the 9th most points of any active player across all divisions of men's lacrosse. He could be joined by Rogers by the end of the UVA game. Rogers has 198 points ahead of the game against #9 UVA.

It's Pronounced My-A-Uh

The freshman Brayden Mayea has been fantastic for the Panthers since joining the team. Mayea is tied for the lead in goals for HPU this season with ten on year through only three games. The newcomer sixth in the nation in shooting percentage with a percentage of .714. Mayea has the highest percentage for a player with ten goals or more.

The game against #9 UVA on Wednesday will be the third of a four-game streak where the Panthers only play ACC opponents.

The Panthers' last two nationally televised ACC matchups have come down to the wire. A season ago against UVA, the Hoos won by only three goals and earlier this season on the ACC Network the Tar Heels hung on to win by two goals.
