The High Point University men's golf team returns to South Carolina this weekend (Feb. 6-7) to compete in the Rains Development Intercollegiate hosted by Francis Marion University at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, S.C.

The Field
HPU is joined by fellow Big South members Charleston Southern, Gardner-Webb, and Presbyterian in the field. Along with Francis Marion, the non-conference opponents in the field include Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Middle Tennessee State, North Carolina Central, Richmond, and Wofford.

Country Club of South Carolina
The Country Club of South Carolina highlights the beauty of South Carolina's Lowcountry and has been voted as one of the "Best Courses You Can Play" in the state. Ellis Maples designed the 7,062-yard layout around scenic lakes and Blak Creek, with many greens tucked into hollows surrounded by dogwoods, azaleas, and old-growth hardwoods.

Format and Schedule
The tournament is scheduled for two days, with 36 holes on Saturday (Feb. 6) to open the tournament, starting with an 8:30 am shotgun start, followed by the final 18 holes on Sunday (Feb. 7). Each team will have six golfers competing, with the top four scores each day counting towards the team total.

Last Time Out
High Point was in Kiawah Island, S.C. on Jan. 24-26 playing in its first tournament of the year at the Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate. The Panthers came in ninth place as a team, with
Brandon Einstein leading the way at three-under (70-75-68-213) for a share of 12th place.

A South Carolina Stretch
This weekend is the middle tournament of a three-event stretch that brings the Purple and White to the Palmetto State. HPU will return to South Carolina later in the month to participate in the Pinnacle Bank Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C., also hosted by Francis Marion. High Point has two more trips to South Carolina on the schedule after that, returning for the Furman Intercollegiate at the end of March and then the Big South Championships in April.

Up Next: The Panthers are off until Feb. 22-23 when HPU heads to Hilton Head, S.C. for the Pinnacle Bank Intercollegiate at the Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Hall.
