HIGH POINT, N.C. – Senior midfielder Dalton Sulver of the High Point University men's lacrosse team was selected 76th overall in the fifth round by the Buffalo Bandits in the 2020 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Draft Thursday evening (September 18).
Sulver becomes the fifth High Point player to be drafted in the NLL Draft. Sulver will join fellow Panthers Dallas Bridle, Dan Lomas, and Connor Robinson in the NLL as they are all on active rosters. The Kingwood, Texas native will be the only player from Texas in the NLL upon his entry into the league.
"This is an incredible honor for Dalton, Texas lacrosse, and our program," Head Coach Jon Torpey said. "Dalton came into HPU as a big athletic freshman and he has turned into one of the best midfielders in DI. Watching him transform these last 4+ years as both a lacrosse player and a leader has been remarkable. Dalton is as passionate and driven as any student-athlete we have ever coached here and it is fair to say he has earned everything that's come his way. Dalton has had an amazing journey from lowest man on the depth chart as a freshman to starter to one of the most dominant middies in the country to captain to USILA Scholar All American to Pro, our staff and all the players he has competed with are so excited today but we are not surprised. We look forward to seeing Dalton dominate in this next chapter of his journey."
Sulver has appeared in 49 games for the Panthers and has 41 goals over his career. Last season, he finished the shortened year with 10 goals which were the fourth most on the team. Sulver has exploded offensively over the last two seasons where he has scored 31 goals and recorded 11 assists.
Sulver becomes the 15th Panther to be drafted to a professional lacrosse league.
