The High Point University women's lacrosse team (1-2, 0-0 Big South) prepares for its first road contest of the season when it travels to Towson (0-3, 0-0 CAA) on Saturday (Feb. 29) afternoon.

 Matchup History
  • Saturday's contest marks the third all-time meeting between High Point and the Tigers, with High Point winning both matchups.
  • The school's most recent matchup was last season, a 12-8 HPU win at Vert Stadium. Ashley Britton and Abby Hormes both registered a hat trick while Rachel Foster (2) and Meredith Chapman (1) also found the back of the net for the Panthers.
  • In the inaugural game, HPU defeated Towson 21-15 in the 2017 NCAA Tournament to earn the programs first postseason win.
  • Although this is only the third meeting between the programs, High Point is no stranger to the CAA. The Panthers are 7-7 all-time against the conference.
Panther Notes
  • Meredith Chapman currently ranks second in the country in caused turnovers per game with three.
  • With her goal last game vs JMU, Ashley Britton extended her goal streak to 32. The streak dates back to the third game of her sophomore season
  • Abby Hormes was selected to the Tewaaraton 2020 watch list. She is the second woman in program history to ever receive this recognition. She joins Erica Perrotta, who was chosen in 2018
  • HPU currently ranks 10th in the country in caused turnovers, causing 12.67 per game.
  • Abby Hormes is just two goals away from moving into second place all time in Panther history. She currently sits at 127, just below former HPU standout Mackenzie Carroll who scored 129 in her career.
  • In the season opener, freshman attacker Jenna Harms gathered four ground balls. This is the most by a freshman field player in a season opener in High Point University history.
  • Seniors Ashley Britton and Meredith Chapman earned Big South honors in the seasons opening week. Britton was named Offensive Player of the Week after a five-goal effort, while Chapman was selected as Defensive Player of the Week after causing four turnovers and earning four draw controls.
  • HPU's season opening victory gave goalkeeper Sarah Zeto the 16th win of her career, giving her sole possession of fourth all time in program history. She passed former Panther Lauren Hayes
  • The 2020 season will begin Lyndsey Boswell's tenth season at head coach for the Panthers. Entering the weekend HPU is 124-52 under Coach Boswell's direction, including three straight NCAA Tournament appearances and three straight Big South regular season and tournament championships.

Across the Bench
  • Towson is led by 10th year head coach Sonia Lamonica. In her tenure with the Tigers, Lamonica is 108-63 and has led Towson to three straight conference titles.
  • The Tigers enter the contest still in search of their first victory on the season, falling short to Loyola in their last game 14-10.
  • Towson is led by senior Sami Chenoweth. Chenoweth has received a bevy of accolades this season including being named a preseason All-American, CAA Preseason Team and 2020 Tewaaraton Award watch list. The Maryland native already has already cause nine turnovers this season.

Up Next: The Panthers travel to Donald R. Dizney Stadium to take on No. 8 Florida next Saturday (Mar. 7) at 12 p.m.
