The High Point University men's lacrosse team (1-4) heads to Robert Morris (1-2) on Saturday (Feb. 29) following an 18-15 setback against UVA last Tuesday (Feb 25). The Panthers look to build off of their impressive nationally televised performance from Tuesday and take it into their contest against the Colonials.
 
Matchup History

•    High Point leads the all-time series against the colonials 3-2.
•    Last time against HPU played RMU double overtime was needed to decide a winner. A freshman at the time, Hunter Vines scored the game-winner he was assisted by Asher Nolting. Vines and Ben Baker each scored three goals. Nolting had six points on one goal and five assists. 

Panther Notes 

•    This will be the third game of a two-week road stretch for HPU. 
•    The story of the UVA game was the emergence of redshirt freshman Devon Buckshot who scored five goals in the game against the Cavaliers. Buckshot provided fans plenty of highlights, including a buzzer-beating goal he scored at the end of the third quarter as time expired.
•    Dalton Sulver scored against two goals early against UVA the last timeout he has scored in every game he has played in this season. Sulver has six goals on the season. 
•   Nolting finished with six points against UVA. Nolting has recorded a point in every game he played in at HPU (35 games). His 35-game streak ranks 14th in the nation. He has 179 points during this steak. He is also currently on a 21-game goal streak with 51 goals scored during this stretch. Nolting is the SOCON's active leader in points. 
•    High Point just experienced its first week of playing two games in that same week. HPU will have another quick turnaround as after Saturday's game the Panthers will be host St. Bonaventure on Monday.
•    Two Panthers recorded their first scoring statistic of the season in the same play against UVA on Tuesday when Nick Walsh assisted Colin Clothier on his goal. Clothier's goal was a turnaround shot that occurred during HPU's 5-1 run in the third quarter to tie it up.
•    Tyler Stinson had a big day against Cornell scoring two goals and adding two assists. Stinson had four points in the game which tied Nolting for the time high against Cornell. Sean Coughlin added two goals against the Big Red as well.
•    Parker Green's 21 saves opening weekend is still the most saves in a single game by any goalie this season in Division I lacrosse. He has 71 saves on the season.
•    Nolting was selected to the Tewaaraton watch list for the third year in a row. The only Panther to be selected three times to the Tewaaraton watch list is Dan Lomas. Three Panthers have received this honor that list includes Nolting, Lomas, and Tim Troutner Jr.  
•    Freshman Tyler Hendrycks leads the team in goals scored with eight heading into the sixth game of the season. 
•    HPU is first in the SOCON in man-up goals with twelve on the season. The Panthers are averaging 3 man-up goals per contest. 
•    Davis Sampere won a season-high 19 faceoffs and picked up 10 grounds balls against the Dragons. Sampere's 19 wins ranks for 14th in the country for faceoff wins in a single game. 
•    According to NCAA Strength of Schedule, HPU has the 14th toughest schedule in the nation this season.
•    High Point's roster features players from 21 states and provinces which is tied for second for most states and provinces represented in all of Division I lacrosse. This list includes California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Ontario, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Vermont. 

Across the Bench

•    The colonials enter Saturday's contest 1-2, their win came on the road against Canisius as they won 22-10. 
•    Ryan Smith is the leading scoring with 11 goals on the season. Against Canisius Smith scored eight goals in the game. Austin Popovich has eight goals on the season for the Colonials. 
•    Andrew McMinn is the head coach of Robert Morris he has been with the program since 2006 (14 seasons) as an associate head coach. McMinn has been named the Northeast Conference Coach of the Year twice (2012, 2017).

Up Next: High Point returns home for the first time since Feb. 8 when the Panthers will host St. Bonaventure on Monday (March 2).
