The High Point University women's basketball team (11-11, 9-4 Big South) returns home for a showdown with the Big South's top team in Campbell University (16-5, 11-1 Big South) on Tuesday evening (Feb. 11).

The Panthers currently sit tied for second in the conference standings and feature the Big South's best offense while the Fighting Camels win their games with defense, boasting the best defense in the league. HPU and Campbell are both undefeated in conference games at home, the only two teams in the Big South yet to lose a conference game in front of a home crowd.

Matchup History
  • This is the 45 meeting between the two schools, with High Point holding the edge in the series, 27-17.
  • Campbell has had a slight edge in the last 10 games, winning six of the last 10, including earlier this season when the Fighting Camels shut down the Panthers' offense in a 73-36 victory in Buies Creek.
  • HPU is even in the series when playing on the road or at a neutral site (13-13), but dominates the series at the Millis Center, entering the game with a 14-4 record at home. However, things haven't been as great at home for the Panthers in recent years, with three of those four losses coming in the last four games at the Millis Center between the two teams.

Panther Notes
  • High Point made it three wins in a row and seven of the last eight with an 81-45 victory over USC Upstate on Saturday.
  • Senior Camryn Brown led the team with 21 points, exploding for 14 of those in the third quarter to stop an offensive skid for the Panthers.
  • Brown flirted with a double-double for the second time this season in the win, finishing with eight rebounds and assists to go with her 21 points.
  • Amaria McNear continued her strong week, finishing with 15 points in the game, one shy of her career-best she put up against Hampton last Tuesday (Feb. 4). The freshman hit two triples in the game, the third time she's done that this season, to score in double digits in consecutive games for the first time in her career.
  • Sophomore Skyler Curran was named the Big South Player of the Week on Monday (2/10) for the third time this season after she notched her fourth double-double of the year last Tuesday against Hampton. It's the third straight week that HPU has had a player named Player of the Week by the Big South and fourth out of the last five weeks.
  • The Panthers are putting their undefeated record at home in conference games on the line against Campbell - the only other team in the Big South that has yet to lose a conference game at home.
  • High Point had its best game from behind the arc at Upstate on Saturday, going 16-29 from deep for a 55.2% shooting percentage. It's the first time this season that HPU has shot above 50% from three-point land and a stark contrast from the first game against the Spartans where the Purple and White attempted a total of 20 triples in the whole game.

Three-Point Club make total: 237

Across the Bench
  • Campbell sits atop the conference with an 11-1 record in Big South play, part of a 16-5 overall record on the year.
  • The Fighting Camels' lone conference loss came back on Jan. 4 when Campbell fell on the road at UNC Asheville. The Bulldogs almost pulled off the sweep of the Camels on Saturday but CU pulled away late in the fourth to win 59-52.
  • Campbell spreads out its offense instead of relying on a couple of scorers, with five players averaging over seven points per game, led by ShyAnne Tuelle's average of 10.0, the only player averaging double digits.
  • Hayley Barber is behind HPU's Brown in assist to turnover ratio in the Big South, sitting second with an average of 1.62 assists for every turnover.
  • Not only is Campbell's defense the best in the conference, it is also one of the best in the nation, as the Fighting Camels' average of 50.5 points against is the third-lowest amount in Division I, just two points off of Princeton's mark of 48.5 points against.

Up Next: The Panthers stay home for a rematch with Gardner-Webb on Saturday (Feb. 15) before heading on the road next week for their final two road games of the regular season. HPU heads to Radford a week from Saturday (Feb. 22) and then to Presbyterian on Feb. 25 before ending the season with three games at the Millis Center.
