- HPU enters Saturday ranked 20th in the Inside Lacrosse Preseason Media Poll High Point will head into the season ranked for the first time in program history.
- Asher Nolting has collected various awards this offseason he was named to the SOCON All-Conference preseason team and was selected to the USILA All-American first team and the Inside Lacrosse All-American second team.
- Nolting has scored a goal in every game of his college career except for one. (Jacksonville 5/3/18) Nolting is currently on the 12th longest point streak in the nation with 30 games. He has recorded at least one point in every game he has played in.
- Coach Jon Torpey is entering his eighth season as the head coach of High Point. His overall record with HPU after last year's 13-win season is 54-53.
- High Point's offense as a whole finished fourth in the nation in scoring with 232 goals on the year. The Panthers averaged 14.50 goals per contest a season ago. HPU has nine out of its ten top goal scorers returning this year.
- HPU FOGO Davis Sampere ranked 13th in the nation a season ago in ground balls as he brought in 129 ground balls.
- High Point returns 89 percent of its defense this season, a defense that ended the season ranked 33rd in the country in scoring defense. Chris Price, Clayton Krol, and Nick Walsh all return this season and are guys who have been mainstays on the High Point defense during their time here.

- The Terrapins enter the season ranked #4 after going 12-5 and reaching the quarterfinals in the 2019 NCAA tournament
- Maryland had six players selected to the Inside Lacrosse Preseason Media All-America team. Senior Jared Bernhardt (Second Team), Junior Bubba Fairman (Third Team), junior Anthony DeMaio (Third Team), junior Logan Wisnauskas (Third Team), junior Roman Puglise (Honorable Mention) and sophomore Brett Makar (Honorable Mention)
- Senior Jared Bernhardt returns after a solid junior season that saw him finish 9th in the country in goals (51) and earn First Team USILA All-American, First Team All-Big Ten and Third Team Inside Lacrosse Media All-American honors
- This will be the tenth season at the helm for head coach John Tillman. Under his lead, Maryland has enjoyed one of the most successful eras in their program's history. He's led Maryland to 21 NCAA Tournament wins, seven Final Fours and a National Championship in 2017
