HIGH POINT, N.C. – The No. 11 High Point University men's lacrosse team will host Richmond for the Southern Conference (SoCon) Championship Game on Saturday, May 4, with the winner taking the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The opening face-off is set for 12 p.m. at Vert Stadium. 
 
The Panthers are coming off a win over Jacksonville, while the Spiders beat Air Force on Thursday, May 2, in the SoCon semifinals.
 
All-Time Series with Richmond
• The Panthers trail the series with the Spiders 3-6. High Point beat Richmond, 15-14, on Saturday, April 27, earlier this season.
 
All-Time Postseason Series with Richmond
• HPU has played Richmond three times in postseason play with the Panthers coming away with a 1-2 record in such matchups. The Purple & White fell, 6-17, to the Spiders in the 2016 SoCon semifinals in the last postseason game between the two teams.

• Sophomore Asher Nolting was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Year for the second-straight year on April 30.
 
• Nolting is fifth in the NCAA in points per game at 5.93, sixth in assists per game at 3.07 and 19th in goals per game at 2.87.
 
• The Greenwood Village, Colo., native broke the SoCon and HPU single-season points record with his 67th point of season. He currently has 87 points (43G, 44A).
 
• The sophomore attackman was named one of the 25 Tewaaraton Award Nominees. He is the first player in program history to make the list. 
 
• Nolting native has scored at least two points in 29-straight games. He has logged 153 total points (73 goals, 80 assists) over that span.
 
• Nolting leads the conference in assists (2.93) and points per game (5.80). He is third in goals per game at 2.87.
 
• Head coach Jon Torpey was named 2019 SoCon Coach of the Year.
 
• Senior Tim Troutner Jr. leads the Panthers in the cage and averages 12.53 saves per game, which is third in the conference and 15th in the nation.
 
• The Annapolis, Md. native is second in the SoCon and ranks 13th in the NCAA in save percentage at .551. He is also third in the league and 32nd in the nation in goals against average at 10.77.
 
• Troutner Jr. took home First-Team All-SoCon honors in 2019.
 
• The senior goalie is second in the SoCon in save percentage (.551). He ranks third in goals against average (10.77) and saves per game (12.53).
 
• Senior Chris Young is second on the team with 42 goals. He is first in the nation in shot percentage at .600 and tied for 24th in goals per game at 2.80. He was named to the All-SoCon Second team.
 
• Young is third in the SoCon in goals per game at 2.80.
 
• Junior Davis Sampere leads the Panthers in the face-off X with a .588 percentage with 197 wins. He ranks third in face-off percentage in the SoCon.
 
• Sampere picked up a single-game record 18 ground balls in the first matchup with Richmond on April 27. He also won a program-record 22 face-offs vs. the Spiders.
 
• The Raleigh, N.C., native is first in the SoCon in ground balls (7.60).  He is third in the league in faceoff percentage at .588.
 
• The 14-goal margin in the 17-3 win over Jacksonville in the SoCon Semifinal on Thursday, May 2 was the largest margin of victory in SoCon Championship history. It tied the largest margin of victory tied for the largest in HPU program history.
 
• Troutner is 13th in the NCAA in save percentage at .551and 15th in the NCAA in saves per game at 12.53.
 
• Sampere is 16th in the nation in ground balls per game at 7.60 and 24th in face-off winning percentage at .588.
 
• Freshman Hunter Vines was named to the all-freshman squad. He scored a career-high four goals against Jacksonville in the SoCon Championship semifinals.
 
The Panthers rank second in the NCAA in winning percentage (.867), fourth in scoring offense (15.00), shot percentage (.348), clearing percentage (.887) and scoring margin (4.20), sixth in ground balls (37.53), tenth in points per game (22.73) and 12th in caused turnovers (9.93).
 
• HPU is 14th in assists per game (7.73), 16th in man-down defense (.700), 18th in saves per game (13.27) and 23rd in face-off winning percentage (.572).
 
• As a team, the Panthers lead the SoCon in ground balls (37.53), points per game (22.73), shot percentage (.348), man-down goals (0.20), shots on goal per game (25.47), assists per game (7.73) and goals per game (15.00).
 
• They rank second save percentage (.551), third in face-off percentage (.572), goals against average (10.69) and penalty killing percentage (.714), fourth caused turnovers (9.93) and in saves per game (13.27).
 
On the Spiders (9-6, 5-2)
• Teddy Hatfield leads the Spiders with 66 points and 33 assists.
 
• Hatfield is second in the SoCon in assists per game at 2.20 and points per game at 4.40.
 
• Ryan Lanchbury is tops on the team with 47 goals for Richmond. He leads the SoCon and ranks seventh in the NCAA in goals per game at 3.13.
 
• Lanchbury is second on the team with 18 assists.
 
• Jason Reynolds leads the Spiders' defense with a team-high 38 ground balls, while Sean Menges is tops on the team with 24 ground balls.
 
• Nick D'Amaro leads Richmond in the face-off 'X' with a .411 percentage and 74 wins.  
 
• Jack Rusbuldt mans the cage for  the Spiders with a 9.49 goals against average. He has 127 saves on the year with a .555 save percentage.
 
• Rusbuldt is tops in the SoCon and 13th in the NCAA in save percentage.
 
• The Spiders turn the ball over the least in the conference at 15.67 a game. Richmond also leads the conference in assists per game at 7.33, save percentage at .557 and penalty killing percentage at .796.
 
•Richmond is second in the conference in goals (11.73), points (19.06), shot percentage (.322), man-up scoring percentage (.378) and goals against average (10.17).
 
• Head coach Dan Chemotti is in his sixth season as head coach of the Spiders. He has compiled a 60-37 record during his time in Richmond, Va.
