No. 14 Panthers Play Host to Air Force Saturday

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's lacrosse team will host Air Force on Saturday, April 6, at Vert Stadium. The opening face-off is set for 12 p.m. The HPU women's lacrosse team will play at 3 p.m. following the conclusion of the men's lacrosse game.
 
The Panthers are coming off a win over Furman, while Air Force lost to Jacksonville last week.
 
All-Time Series with Air Force
• The Panthers trail the series with the Falcons, 2-3. High Point took a 7-6 win over Air Force on April 21, 2018 in the last meeting.

• Sophomore Asher Nolting is tied for fifth in the NCAA in assists per game at 3.00 and points per game at 5.50.
 
• The Greenwood Village, Colo., native leads the Southern Conference (SoCon) in points per game and assists per game.
 
• Nolting leads the conference in assists (3.00) and points per game (5.50).
 
• The sophomore attackman native has scored at least two points in 23-straight games. He has logged 121 total points (55 goals, 66 assists) over that span.
 
• Senior Chris Young is tops on the team with 34 goals. He is first in the nation in shot percentage at .654.
 
• Young leads the nation in shot percentage at .654 and the fifth in goals per game at 3.40.
 
• He is tops in the SoCon in goals per game and fifth in points per game at 4.00.
 
• The Calgary, Alberta native has scored at least one goal in 22-straight games. The senior has scored 53 goals over that span.
 
• Senior Tim Troutner Jr. leads the Panthers in the cage and averages 12.00 saves per game, which is third in the conference and 24th in the nation.
 
• The Annapolis, Md. native is third in the SoCon and ranks 15th in the NCAA in save percentage at .557. He is also third in the league and 27th in the nation in goals against average at 10.37.
 
• Troutner won Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season April 2nd after 14 saves, five ground balls and two caused turnovers against Furman.
 
• The senior goalkeeper is 15th in the NCAA in save percentage at .557.
 
• Troutner is third in the SoCon in save percentage (.557), goals against average (10.37) and saves per game (12.20).
 
• Junior Davis Sampere leads the Panthers in the face-off X with a .591 percentage with 127 wins. He has the most wins in the SoCon and ranks second in face-off percentage.
 
• Sampere is 12th in the nation and tops in the SoCon in ground balls per game at 7.50.
 
•Junior Ben Baker set a career-high with four goals against UMBC March 9. He has four hat tricks on the year.
 
• The Panthers rank third in the NCAA in ground balls (40.10), fourth in scoring margin (4.20), fifth in scoring offense (14.70), seventh in shot percentage (.334) and points per game (21.90) and 12th in caused turnovers (10.20).
 
• HPU is 15th in face-off winning percentage (.592), 18th in assists per game (7.20), 20th in clearing percentage (.862) and 19th in saves per game (13.00).
 
• The Panthers posted the fifth-most points by any NCAA Division I team in a single game this season with 37 against UMBC.
 
• As a team, the Panthers lead the SoCon in ground balls (40.10), points per game (21.90), shot percentage (.334), man-down goals (0.20), shots on goal per game (26.30), face-off percentage (.592)  and goals per game (14.70).

On the Falcons (7-3, 3-0)
• Trey Lervick leads Air Force with 42 points (29 goals, 13 assists).
 
• Lervick is third in the SoCon in goals per game and points per game.
 
• Cameron Carter is tops on the team with 15 assists. He is fourth in the conference in assists per game.
 
• August Johnson and Matthew Schwartz are second on the team with 11 goals.
 
• Brandon Jones leads the Falcons with 56 ground balls on the season. He is second in the SoCon in ground balls per game at 5.60.
 
• Trent Harper leads Air Force in the face-off 'X' with a 118-192 record and a .615 percentage. Harper leads the conference and ranks 15th in the NCAA in face-off percentage.
 
• Braden Host mans the cage for the Falcons with a 7.95 goals against average.
 
• He has a .534 save percentage, which is fifth in the SoCon. Host is eighth in the conference with 8.60 saves per game.
 
• As a team, Air Force leads the conference in goals against average at 8.20 and man-up scoring percentage at .417.
 
• The Falcons score 11.50 goals, dish out 6.90 assists and grab 33.20 ground balls per game, which all rank third in the SoCon.
 
• Air Force is second in the NCAA in scoring defense at 8.20 goals allowed per game.
 
• Head coach Bill Wilson is in his second season as head coach of the Falcons. He has compiled a 12-13 during his time at the United States Air Force Academy.
