HIGH POINT, N.C.—The No. 24 High Point University women's lacrosse team plays its first conference road game of the year on Wednesday (April 3), traveling to Gardner-Webb. First draw from Boiling Springs is set for 4 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Last time out, the Panthers defeated Longwood, 22-3, in their Big South opener on Saturday (March 30) at Vert Stadium. HPU's 22 goals was tied for the third-most in a single game in program history, while the Panthers' 20 draw controls were the fourth-most in a single game in program history.Â

HPU was led at the offensive end by sophomore
Abby Hormes, who had six points on four goals and two assists. Junior
Ashley Britton recorded two goals and three assists and passed the 100 career-point mark.Â

Mena Loescher each provided three points, with Holthaus and Amster scoring hat tricks and Loescher adding two goals and an assist. Eight other Panthers scored one goal each, including senior
Emory Gaeng, who scored her first of the season, and freshman
Emma Genovese, who tallied her first collegiate goal.

Meredith Chapman was named Big South Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts last week, which included 10 draw controls, seven caused turnovers and four ground balls. She is three ground balls shy of a 100 for her career and five draw controls shy of 100 career draws.

Hormes leads the Panthers with 44 points on 30 goals and a team-leading 14 assists and also has a team-leading 37 draw contorls. Britton is second with 40 points and a team-leading 32 goals. Chapman leads HPU with 26 caused turnovers and is 10th in the nation with 2.36 per game.

This is the sixth meeting between High Point and Gardner-Webb. High Point leads the all-time series, 5-0, winning the last matchup in, 22-3, at Vert Stadium on April 14, 2018.

The Bulldogs come into this matchup 5-6 on the season and 0-1 in Big South Conference play. Their last matchup was a 16-15 loss to Radford on Saturday (March 30). Abby Hanscom and Jada Preston lead the team with 39 points each. Hanscom leads the team in goals with 29, while Preston leads the team in assists with 21.
