HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's lacrosse team will travel to Macon, Ga. to take on Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Mercer on Saturday, April 13. The opening face-off is set for 1:30 p.m.
 
The Panthers are coming off a win over Air Force, while the Bears fell at Furman last week.
 
All-Time Series with Mercer
• The Panthers lead the series with the Bears, 4-3. High Point took a 13-7 win over Mercer on April 28, 2018 in the last meeting.
 
Paw Prints
• Sophomore Asher Nolting is fourth in the NCAA in points per game at 5.82 and sixth in assists per game at 3.27.
 
• The Greenwood Village, Colo., native leads the SoCon in points per game and assists per game.
 
• Nolting has scored at least two points in 24-straight games. He has logged 130 total points (58 goals, 72 assists) over that span.
 
• The sophomore attackman set a program-record with six assists against Air Force on April 6. He tied the program-record of nine points (3 goals, 6 assists) against the Falcons.
 
• Nolting was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for a third time after posting three goals and six assists vs. Air Force April 6.
 
• Senior Tim Troutner Jr. leads the Panthers in the cage and averages 12.09 saves per game, which is third in the conference and 25th in the nation.
 
• The Annapolis, Md. native is second in the SoCon and ranks 14th in the NCAA in save percentage at .556. He is also third in the league and 25th in the nation in goals against average at 10.26.
 
• Nolting received second team Midseason All-American honors from Inside Lacrosse, while Inside Lacrosse placed Troutner Jr. on the third team.
 
• Junior Davis Sampere leads the Panthers in the face-off X with a .580 percentage with 138 wins. He has the most wins in the SoCon and ranks third in face-off percentage.
 
• Sampere is 16th in the nation in ground balls per game at 6.91.
 
• Senior Chris Young is tops on the team with 36 goals. He is second in the nation in shot percentage at .643.
 
• Young has scored at least one goal in 23-straight games. The senior has scored 55 goals over that span. He is ninth in the nation in goals per game at 3.27.
 
•Junior Ben Baker set a career-high with four goals against UMBC March 9. He has five hat tricks on the year.
 
The Panthers rank third in the NCAA in ground balls (39.09) and in scoring margin (4.18), fourth in shot percentage (.345), fifth in scoring offense (14.55), seventh in points per game (22.09) and ninth in caused turnovers (10.18).
 
• HPU is 16th in face-off winning percentage (.580) and in clearing percentage (.865), 17th in assists per game (7.55) and 21st in saves per game (12.91).
 
• As a team, the Panthers lead the SoCon in ground balls (39.09), points per game (22.09), shot percentage (.345), man-down goals (0.18), shots on goal per game (25.55), face-off percentage (.580)  and goals per game (14.55).
 
• The Purple & White rank second in assists (7.55) and save percentage (.555), third in caused turnovers (10.18), goals against average (10.22), fourth in penalty killing percentage (.711) and fifth in saves per game (12.91).
 
On the Bears (1-9, 1-3)
• Michael Quinn leads Mercer with 17 goals. He is tied for first on the team with 24 points (17-7).
 
• Sean Goldsmith is second on the team with 16 goals and eight assists.
 
• Pascal Coombs is tops on the team with nine assists. He has added 12 goals this season.
 
• Ashton Wood has grabbed a team-high 61 ground balls for the Bears on the season. He is second in the SoCon in ground balls per game at 6.10.
 
• Wood leads Mercer in the face-off 'X' with a 114-190 record and a .600 percentage. Wood is second in the conference and ranks 19th in the NCAA in face-off percentage.
 
• Josh Tarver mans the cage for the Bears with a 14.12 goals against average.
 
• He has a .526 save percentage and 12.00 saves per game, both rank fourth in the SoCon.
 
• As a team, Mercer scores 10.40 goals per game, dish out 5.50 assists, grab 31.90 ground balls and log 42.10 shots per game.
 
• Head coach Kyle Hannan is in his seventh season as head coach of the Bears. He has compiled a 31-58 during his time in Macon, Ga.
 
• Hannan has 210-180 career-record with stops at Virginia Wesleyan, Colorado College and Goucher.
