CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Senior Tim Troutner Jr. of the High Point University men's lacrosse team was drafted No. 2 overall by the Florida Launch and redshirt senior Chris Young was drafted No. 38 overall by Ohio Machine in the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) draft Saturday, March 9. Troutner is the highest drafted player in the history of the High Point men's lacrosse program in any league.
 
Troutner is the program's all-time wins leader with 24. He owns the program record for saves at 560 and goals against average at 11.06 on his career. Troutner's .538 save percentage is second all-time in HPU program history. He is third in the record books at High Point in caused turnovers at 46 and in ground balls at 143.
 
The Annapolis, Md. native set the HPU and Southern Conference (SoCon) Championship record for saves in a game at 22 against Jacksonville on May 3, 2018. Troutner posted the only shutout in program history with a 13-0 victory over St. Bonaventure on Feb. 2 this season. He was an All-SoCon Second Team honoree in 2018. He has been named SoCon Defensive Player Month twice (April 2018, February 2019) in his career and was a 2019 Preseason All-SoCon selection by Inside Lacrosse and the SoCon coaches.

"From the first day he sat in our office he spoke about playing in the MLL as one of his long term goals and for him to achieve this accomplishment is just incredible. Timmy is the most versatile goalie the sport of lacrosse has ever seen and his leadership abilities are unmatched. I look forward to watching Timmy hoist many an MLL championship trophy."
 
Young is fifth in High Point men's lacrosse history in points, 70, and goals, 61. He is sixth in HPU history with 86 shots on goal. The Oakville, Ontario native holds the High Point men's lacrosse record for goals in a game with seven, which he scored on March 9, 2019 against UMBC. He has scored at least one goal in 19 straight games dating back to last season with 43 goals coming in that span. This is the fifth longest streak in NCAA Division I lacrosse. Young transferred to High Point after spending two seasons at Penn State.

No one works harder or is more obsessed with being elite on the field than Chris."
 
Troutner and Young join Tanner Landstra, Dan Lomas, Matt Thistle, Pat Parrell, Austin Geisler and Zack Price as HPU players to be drafted in the MLL draft. HPU alums Adam Dickson, Connor Robinson, Dallas Bridle and Dan Lomas were all drafted in the National Lacrosse League.
