HIGH POINT, N.C.—The High Point University women's lacrosse team hosts No. 16 Florida on Saturday (March 9). First draw at Vert Stadium is set for 2 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
 
Last time out, the Panthers defeated Marquette, 20-9, on Sunday (March 3) at Vert Stadium
 
The Panthers had a big second half and were led by sophomore Abby Hormes, who had six points on two goals and four assists, while junior Ashley Britton scored five goals and earned four draw controls.
 
Britton was named Big South Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts, while senior Samantha Herman was named Defensive Player of the Week after picking up seven ground balls, while also causing three turnovers against the Golden Eagles.
 
Britton leads the team with 18 points and 17 goals, while Hormes has 17 points and a team-leading six assists. Along with Hormes, Herman and sophomore Kaely Kyle each have 11 goals.
 
Britton also leads the team with 17 ground balls and 18 draw controls. Redshirt junior Meredith Chapman leads the Panthers with eight caused turnovers.
 
In goal, sophomore Sarah Zeto has a save percentage of .446 and is 3-2 on the year.
 
Herman is the school-record holder for career draw controls with 184, while Britton has moved up to fifth this season with 125. Herman is also fifth all-time at HPU with 76 caused turnovers.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES vs. FLORIDA
This will be the third meeting between High Point and Florida, with the Gators winning the previous two matchups. UF won, 13-7, in 2013 at Vert Stadium and 18-7 in 2014 in Gainesville, Fla.
 
ON THE GATORS
Florida is 2-3 on the season after picking up a road win at Elon, 15-5, on Thursday (March 7). Lindsey Ronbeck leads the Gators with 23 points and 21 goals, while Haley Hicklen has played almost every minute in goal and has a .459 save percentage.
 
UP NEXT
The Panthers travel for Spring Break and will play at Johns Hopkins on Wednesday (March 13) at 6 p.m. in Baltimore.
