HIGH POINT, N.C.—The No. 23 High Point University women's lacrosse team (5-4) hosts Elon (2-7) Wednesday night (March 26). First draw from Vert Stadium is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
 
Last time out, the Panthers defeated Towson, 12-8, on March 20 at Vert Stadium. Sophomore Abby Hormes led the HPU offense with five points, including three goals on three shots. Junior Ashley Britton also recorded a hat trick along with an assist for four points, while sophomore Rachel Foster added two goals. 
 
Britton leads the Purple & White with 33 points and 29 goals, while Hormes has 32 points and a team-leading 10 assists and 32 draw controls. Senior Samantha Herman has an HPU-best 25 ground balls, while redshirt junior Meredith Chapman leads High Point with 19 caused turnovers.
 
Sophomore Sarah Zeto holds a 4-4 record in goal for HPU and has a .424 save percentage, while junior Jill Rall has come off the bench in five games, is 1-0 and has a .565 save percentage.
 
Herman is two draw controls shy of becoming the first Panther to record 200 career draw controls, and also ranks fourth in career ground balls (120) and fifth in caused turnovers (79). Britton is one draw control shy of third and three shy of second all-time at HPU. She has 133 career draws.
 
Hormes is two points shy of 100 for her collegiate career and has 81 goals and 17 assists in 28 career games.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
This will be the sixth meeting all-time between the High Point and Elon, with Elon leading the series 3-2. High Point won the last meeting between the two, a 14-13 victory in overtime at Elon on March 1, 2018.
 
ON THE PHOENIX
The Phoenix are 2-7 on the season and are coming off a 16-8 defeat at the hands of No. 21 Virginia Tech on Wednesday (March 20). Mae McGlynn leads the team in points with 25 and goals with 23. Kaley Thompson leads the team in assists with 5.
 
UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS
The Panthers return to Vert Stadium on Saturday (March 30th) for the Big South opener against Longwood. First draw is set for 3 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
