HIGH POINT, N.C.—The No. 24 High Point University women's lacrosse team (4-4) returns home after spring break to host Towson Wednesday (March 20) at 6 p.m. at Vert Stadium.
 
Last time out, the Panthers fell to Hofstra, 13-10, on Saturday (March 16) at the U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md.
 
Five Panthers scored two goals each, including sophomore Rachel Foster, who added three assists.
 
Junior Ashley Britton leads High Point with 29 points, 26 goals and is second on the team with 22 draw controls. Sophomore Abby Hormes is second on the squad with 27 points and 19 goals, but leads the Purple & White with eight assists and 29 draw controls. 
 
Redshirt junior Meredith Chapman was named Big South Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts against Johns Hopkins and Hofstra with eight ground balls, eight caused turnovers and six draw controls in two games. 
 
Chapman leads HPU with 17 caused turnovers and is second on the team with 20 ground balls. 
 
Senior Samantha Herman leads High Point with 25 ground balls and has 120 for her career, which is two shy of third-place all-time in program history. Herman is the school-record holder in draw controls at 196.
 
In goal for the Panthers, sophomore Sarah Zeto has made 56 saves with a .415 save percentage.
 
ALL TIME SERIES vs. TOWSON
This will be the second meeting all-time between the two schools and the first in the regular season. High Point defeated Towson, 21-15, on May 12, 2017 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in College Park, Md.
 
ON THE TIGERS
Towson is 1-6 on the season after picking up a win against St. Joseph's, 17-9, last Wednesday (March 13). Kaitlin Thornton leads the team in points with 22 points, 15 goals and seven assists.
 
UP NEXT
The Panthers host Elon next Wednesday (March 27) at 6 p.m. at Vert Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
