No. 25 High Point Plays Hofstra Saturday in Maryland

HIGH POINT, N.C.—The No. 25 High Point University women's lacrosse team continues its spring break trip in Maryland playing Hofstra in a neutral-site game Saturday (March 16). First draw from the U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters' Tierney Field in Sparks, Md., is set for 5 p.m.
 
The Panthers are coming off of its biggest-ranked win in program history, a 13-10 win over No. 14 Johns Hopkins on Wednesday (March 13) in Baltimore. Sophomore Sarah Zeto made 12 big saves, while junior Ashley Britton tallied five points on four goals and an assist. Sophomore Kaely Kyle and freshman Mena Loescher each recorded a hat trick, while redshirt junior Meredith Chapman picked up five ground balls, four draw controls and caused five turnovers.
 
Britton leads the Panthers with 27 points and 24 goals. Sophomore Abby Hormes is second with 24 points, 17 goals and a team-leading seven assists.
 
Hormes leads the squad with 28 draw controls, while senior Samantha Herman paces the team with 22 ground balls. Chapman leads HPU with 14 caused turnovers.
 
ALL TIME SERIES vs. HOFSTRA
This will be the second meeting all-time between the two programs, with HPU winning the first, 13-9, on April 26, 2018 in Hempstead, N.Y.
 
ON THE PRIDE
Hofstra comes in to the game with a 4-3 record and also coming off of a contest against Johns Hopkins. The Pride fell to the Blue Jays, 15-11, on Saturday (March 9) in Hempstead, N.Y. Alyssa Parrella leads Hofstra with 33 points and 29 goals. Katie Whelan is second on the team with 25 points and a team-leading 11 assists. Jess Smith has the decision in goal in every game this year and holds a .507 save percentage.
 
UP NEXT
The Panthers return home to face Towson on Wednesday (March 20). First draw at Vert Stadium is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
