HIGH POINT, N.C.—The High Point University women's lacrosse team (1-2) hosts Old Dominion (1-5) in its home opener Friday evening (March 1) at Vert Stadium. First draw from Vert Stadium is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

High Point is 6-2 in home openers in program history. HPU defeated Furman last season, 17-6. The Purple & White are 64-14 all-time at Vert Stadium, good enough for an 82.0 win percentage.

The Panthers are coming off of a 12-5 loss at then-No. 7 James Madison on Saturday (Feb. 23) in Harrisonburg, Va.Â

Ashley Britton recorded a hat trick for the Panthers against the Dukes, while sophomores
Kaely Kyle and
Abby Hormes had the other goals for the Purple & White.

HPU is led by Big South Preseason Defensive Player of the Year senior
Samantha Herman and Britton, who both have 10 points. Britton has a team-leading nine goals, while Herman has recorded six goals and a team-leading four assists. Britton also is tied for the team lead with 11 ground balls.Â

Abby Hormes has recorded eight goals and picked up 10 draw controls.

Sarah Zeto started all three games this season and has made 22 saves while picking up 11 ground balls.

Herman is the school-record holder for career draw controls with 180, while Britton has moved up to fifth this season with 121. Herman is also fifth all-time at HPU with 75 caused turnovers.

ALL-TIME SERIES vs. OLD DOMINION
This will be the second meeting all-time between the programs. HPU leads the series, 1-0, winning the only matchup between the two in 2018, a 15-9 victory on March 21st at Vert Stadium.

ON THE MONARCHS
ODU is 1-5 on the season after falling at then-No. 25 Virginia Tech, 23-3, on Wednesday (Feb. 27) in Blacksburg, Va. Glory Johnson is the team leader in points with 19 and goals with 16, while Lilly Siskind leads the team in assists with 10.
