The High Point University women's basketball team (2-5) hits the road to face Butler University (6-3) on Sunday afternoon (Dec. 15) at 2 p.m. It's the start of a four-game road stretch for the Panthers, part of a larger stretch of seven of eight games on the road for HPU. Senior Camryn Brown will play in her 100th career game on Sunday. If she plays every game the rest of the year, she will end with at least 122 games played, eighth all-time in High Point history.

Matchup History
  • This is the first-ever meeting between the two schools
  • The Panthers are 0-2 against schools currently in the BIG EAST, with both losses coming against Xavier

Panther Notes
  • High Point lost its final home game of the 2019 calendar year last time out, falling to Davidson 73-63 on Dec. 2.
  • Brown led the team with 20 points, her second 20-point performance of the season.
  • Brown played all but 23 seconds of the game, being forced to leave after picking up her fifth foul.
  • Classmate Miya Bull left the game with an injury in the third quarter and is out for at least the next six weeks.
  • Fellow senior Olivia VanSlooten hit her first career triple against Davidson, becoming the 10th different HPU player to make a three this year.
  • The Panthers continue to sit among the most active teams from behind the arc, ranking third in three-pointers attempted per game and fifth in makes per game.

Three-Point Club make total: 75

Across the Bench
  • Butler is 6-3 on the year and most recently lost to No. 12 Indiana on Wednesday night (Dec. 11).
  • Senior guard Kristen Spolyar leads the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounding, averaging 18.2 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game.
  • Redshirt junior Genesis Parker averages 14.7 PPG and will look to beat High Point at its own game, as she has the fourth-best three-point shooting percentage in the country (53.7%).
  • Butler is eighth in D1 in free throw attempts and makes, and are 20th in steals per game, swiping an average of 12 steals per contest. Five different Bulldogs enter Sunday's game with double-digit steals this season.

Up Next: High Point stays on the road but returns to the Triad for its final game before Christmas, taking on UNCG next Saturday (Dec. 21) at 4 p.m. It's the final non-conference game for HPU, with the Panthers heading to Campbell on Dec. 28 and Winthrop on Dec. 31 to open Big South action and end 2019 before returning home in 2020 on Jan. 4 against USC Upstate.
