HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women's basketball team will travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to open Big South Conference play against USC Upstate on Saturday (Dec. 10) afternoon. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. in G.B. Hodge Center on USC Upstate's campus.
 
The Panthers are coming off a win at East Tennessee State, while the Spartans defeated Brevard College in Spartanburg, S.C.
 
History vs. USC Upstate
This will be the fourth meeting all-time between the two programs. HPU currently leads the series 2-1. The Panthers took a 75-69 win in the Millis Center on Nov. 17, 2013 in the last meeting between the two teams.
 
A LOOK AT THE SPARTANS (3-7)
• Brianna Lewis leads the Spartans and the Big South with 20.5 points per game. She ranks eighth in the NCAA in minutes per game at 38.06.
 
• Lewis also leads the team and the Big South in assists with 5.9 per game. She ranks tied for 18th in the NCAA in the category.
 
• Riley Popplewell is the leading rebounder for USC Upstate at 9.0 per game. She ranks third in the Big South in the category.
 
• Popplewell adds 11.2 points per game for USC Upstate.
 
• DeNisha Swain is third on the team in scoring at 10.5 points per game.
 
• The Spartans are second in the Big South in scoring at 68.3 points per game, field goal percentage 39.3 percent and assist/turnover ratio at 0.80.
 
• USC Upstate forces its opponents into 20.2 turnovers per game, while grabbing 10.3 steals per game.
 
• Head coach Tammy George has compiled a 180-222 overall record in her 14 seasons at USC Upstate.
 
• Prior to USC Upstate, she coached two seasons at Brevard College where she went 43-21.

•The Dayton, Ohio native ranks second in the Big South in steals per game (3.2), third in scoring (17.0) and field goal percentage (.446), fourth in assists per game (3.3), fifth in assist/turnover ratio (1.2) and eighth in rebounding (7.1). Bockrath is 21st in the NCAA in steals per game.
 
• Senior Lindsey Edwards is second in points per game for High Point at 12.3. Edwards also adds 5.1 rebounds per game.
 
• The Perry Hall, Md. native ranks fourth in the Big South in steals per game, sixth in field goal percentage and 13th in points per game. Edwards is 40th in the NCAA in steals per game.
 
• Senior Bria Gibson's 5.4 rebounds per game is tied for second for HPU. Gibson adds 6.4 points per game.
 
• Senior Shea Morgan is tied for second on the team in rebounds per game (5.4), third in assists per game (2.5) and fourth in points per game (9.5).
 
• Junior Camryn Brown is tops on the team and second in the Big South in assists per game at 4.5. She leads the Big South in assist/turnover ratio at 1.7. 
 
• The Copley, Ohio native is third on the team with 10.7 points per game.
 
• High Point averages 72.9 points per game, which leads the Big South.
 
• The Panthers also lead the conference in field goal percentage (.423), free throw percentage (.706), assists (16.18) and assist/turnover ratio (0.97).
 
• Freshman Skyler Curran is tied for fifth on the team in points per game at 8.9 in her freshman season.
 
• She ranks first on the team and fifth in the Big South in 3-point percentage at .417. Curran is also fourth in the conference in 3-pointers made per game at 2.3.
 
• The Panthers average 11.7 steals per game, which ranks 27th in the NCAA.

• HPU head coach DeUnna Hendrix is 2-0 in her career against USC Upstate. She has compiled a 74-40 all-time record against Big South teams.
