HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's lacrosse team hits the road this weekend heading to Richmond for a 1:00 p.m. Saturday showdown with the Spiders.

The Panthers are 1-0 in Southern Conference play after a 15-7 decision over Bellarmine last Saturday. Meanwhile, Richmond is 1-1 in league play following a setback at Furman last weekend.

Quick Hitters
Asher Nolting ranks 21st nationally in points (4.43/game), 19th in assists (2.00/game) and No. 39 in the country in goals per game (2.43/game). Meanwhile, his points and assists per game marks lead the Southern Conference.

• Nolting is second in the freshman class in points per game and assists per game and is third in goals per outing.

• Nolting has joined Matt Thistle, Dan Lomas and Michael LeClair as the fourth player in program history to record a 30-point season.

• Senior Connor Robinson has scored 17 goals over the last five contests and leads the SoCon and is 12th in America with 2.86 goals per game.

• Robinson's 20-goal senior campaign makes him the fifth player to reach that single-season mark in program history.

• Robinson is the reigning SoCon Offensive Player of the Week after his six-point outing against Bellarmine.

• Last Saturday against Bellarmine, both Nolting (3g, 4a) and Robinson (4g, 2a) set new career highs in points.

• Between Robinson (20), senior Chris Young (nine), freshman Tyler Stinson (four) and graduate student Adam Dickson (one), the team's four Canadians have accounted for 34 of High Point's 74 goals this season.

• Sophomore Davis Sampere ranks 16th in the nation and third in the league picking up 6.43 ground balls per game.

• Freshman Clayton Krol is 50th in the nation and sixth in the SoCon with 1.29 caused turnovers per outing. He has at least two caused turnovers in three consecutive contests.

• Saturday's contest could be up-tempo as HPU (23.00/game) and Richmond (21.38/game) are the top-two in the SoCon in shots on goal this spring.

• The Panthers have played one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the nation with five of their six opponents being ranked in the top-20 led by No. 2 Maryland and No. 3 Duke.

• High Point has climbed to 12th in the country in ground balls per game picking up 31.43 per outing. That's the highest average in program history by a fraction over the 2013 squad and up from 23.46 in 2017.

• A win would give the Panthers their first 2-0 start to conference action since 2014. That season, HPU finished 4-1 in league play to win a share of the Atlantic Sun regular season crown along with Mercer.

All-Time Series with Richmond
The Panthers have met the Spiders seven times making Richmond the most common foe in HPU history. High Point trails the all-time series 2-5 and has dropped the last three meetings.

All-Time Mark Against the SoCon
High Point is 16-10 all-time in conference play between the Atlantic Sun and Southern Conference. In league road games, HPU has posted a 7-5 mark.

Last Time They Met
HPU and Richmond were tied 2-2 through a quarter last spring before the Spiders used an 8-0 run to pull away for a 12-4 win. Young paced the team with two goals while Troutner added 11 saves and three caused turnovers.

Streaking Towards Program Records
Asher Nolting has scored at least three points in seven consecutive games to tie Matt Thistle's school record streak. Thistle's streak came from 2015-16 and he compiled 27 points during the stretch. During his run this spring, Nolting has amassed 31 points.

Connor Robinson and Nolting have both tallied hat tricks in four straight games, which is the longest stretch by an HPU duo ever passing Lomas' and Thistle's mark.

• On his own, Robinson has tallied a hat trick in five straight games and now has seven for his career. His four-goal outing on Saturday moved him past Lomas and Thistle for the top spot in program history.

Next Up
The Purple & White will return to the Triad on Saturday, March 31 at noon in Vert Stadium against Jacksonville.
