HIGH POINT, N.C.— The High Point University women's lacrosse team (1-2) goes on the road for the first time season, traveling to Elon on Thursday (March 1). First draw at Rhodes Stadium is scheduled for 6 p.m.
 
Quick Hitters
• Last time out, the Panthers fell to No. 8 James Madison, 13-11, on Saturday (Feb. 24) at Vert Stadium. Junior Emory Gaeng and freshman Abby Hormes each recorded a hat trick for HPU, while seniors Darla Poulin and Erica Perrotta registered a goal and two assists apiece. Sophomore Jill Rall made a season-high 12 saves.
 
• Hormes was named Big South Freshman of the Week after recording a hat trick against JMU. 
 
• Poulin leads HPU with 12 points (9 goals, 3 assists), while Perrotta is second with nine points (5 goals, 4 assists). Sophomore Ashley Britton leads the squad with 11 draw controls, while senior Casey Kotchenreuter and junior Samantha Herman pace the team with seven ground balls each.
 
• The Panthers rank second in the Big South and 12th in the nation in caused turnovers with 12.0 per game.
 
• Perrota is fourth all-time at HPU with 109 career ground balls. She is three shy of second place, held by Sara Kuhlman ('14) and Christie Dougherty ('14).
 
On the Phoenix (0-3)
Elon has faced three nationally-ranked opponents this season, but fell at No. 18 Notre Dame, 11-9, on Sunday (Feb. 25). The Phoenix have also dropped decisions at No. 14 Virginia, 17-4, and at No. 20 Duke, 17-9.
 
All-Time Series with Elon
This will be the fifth meeting all-time between the two programs, with Elon leading 3-1. High Point won the first meeting, 11-4, in 2014, but the Phoenix have captured the last three meetings, including 14-7 on Feb. 19, 2017 in Elon, N.C.
 
Next Up
The Panthers travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on March 10 for a road game at Marist. First draw is scheduled for 1 p.m.
