Â
Quick Hitters

Tyler Stinson recorded a goal while junior
Brandon Savoie added an assist.
Â
• Thirteen of the 33 Panthers to see action in the season-opener at Duke were making their HPU debut - including 11 freshmen. Two others were playing their first game since 2016 after missing last season due to injury.
Â
• The senior duo of
Connor Robinson and
Jason Ashwood enter their final collegiate season ranked in the top-10 in HPU's career points rankings. Robinson is fifth with 49 (40g, 9a) while Ashwood sits in eighth with 29 (16g, 13a).
Â
• Senior defender
Terrell Sands was the Panthers' lone representative on the Preseason All-Southern Conference Team. The Sebastian, Fla. native enters his final season in the Purple & White ranking seventh in HPU's history in caused turnovers (28).
Â
• The Panthers caused some havoc defensively last spring placing 18th in the nation in caused turnovers per game (7.64/game). Four of the team's top-five in the category return in Troutner, Sands,
Griff Caligiuri and
Luke Cappetto.
Â
• Last season, High Point caused 10 of Georgetown's 16 turnovers in last years meeting. Troutner led the way with three from his keeper spot.
Â
• Sophomore David Sampere led the rotation at the face-off 'X' going 8-of-17 while picking up a team-high six ground balls in the contest.
Â
• HPU returns four of their seven double-digit goal scorers in Robinson (16), Ashwood (12),
Chris Young (16) and
Mitchel Snyder (10).
Â
• High Point's four Canadians combined for four of the team's six goals and seven of the 13 shots on goal in the season opener at Duke. Young scored twice while Robinson and Stinson each scored. The squad's fourth Canadians,
Adam Dickson, earned a shot on goal.
Â
• Although the team finished 65th in the nation in ground balls last season, High Point returns 77 percent of their ground ball pickups this season (251-of-327).
Â
• High Point is 11-25 all-time in road games. This is HPU's second road game against a Big East team.
Â
Minding the Net, Plus a Little More
• Tim Troutner Jr. enters his third collegiate season with a 27-game start streak in the crease for the Panthers' defense. The Annapolis, Md. native is 12-15 as the starter including leading HPU to a win over No. 10 Virginia in his second career start.
Â
• Troutner has already racked up 332 saves and has stopped 53.4 percent of the shots he's faced in college.
Â
• On top of his goalkeeper, the athletic junior ranks fourth in HPU's history with 35 career caused turnovers. Similarly, only eight Panthers have collected more than his 84 career ground balls.
Â
• Troutner's 12.30 saves per game is the highest average among active players nationally with a minimum of 250 career saves.
Â
• Along with Troutner High Point has something most teams don't - an experienced backup. Senior
Zach Tuell has started six games and boasts a .555 career save percentage.
Â
