HIGH POINT, N.C.—The High Point University women's lacrosse team hosts Liberty in the semifinals of the Big South Championship Friday (May 5) at 4 p.m. at Vert Stadium.

The Panthers earned the No. 1 seed for the tournament and a first-round bye after finishing 7-0 in Big South play. Fourth-seeded Liberty defeated Longwood, 20-13, last Saturday to advance to the semifinals. In the other semifinal, the No. 2 seed Campbell plays Winthrop at 7 p.m. The Big South Championship final is Sunday at noon at Vert Stadium.
Tickets are $5 for general admission and $2 for Big South students with a valid ID.

• High Point closed out the regular season with a 21-1 win over Presbyterian on April 22. Senior
Samantha Brown scored four goals with two assists, while sophomore
Allie Little tallied three goals and two assists.

• Brown was named the Big South Offensive Player of the Year last week by a vote of the conference's coaches. Brown leads the Panthers with 66 points on 48 goals and 18 assists. Her 48 goals rank 26th in the nation (second in Big South), while her 66 points is 32nd in the NCAA (second in Big South).

Christina Del Sesto was named Big South Defensive Player of the Year. Del Sesto anchors the Panther defense that has held Big South opponents to 6.00 goals a game. She has tallied 34 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers, both of which are second on the team.

Lyndsey Boswell was named Big South Coach of the Year for the third time in four years and the fourth overall time in her career.

• High Point had eight student-athletes earn All-Big South honors. Brown and Del Sesto were named to the all-conference first team, along with junior

Ashley Britton. Juniors

Jill Rall were named to the All-Big South Second Team, while Brown was the Purple and White's representative on the Big South All-Academic Team.

• High Point is 8-2 all-time in the Big South Women's Lacrosse Championship. The Panthers won the tournament in 2013 and 2014 before falling to Winthrop in the 2015 semifinals and 2016 final.

• The Panthers have won 13 games in a row, a school record, and are tied for the second-longest active win streak in the nation.

All-Time vs. Liberty
The two schools have never faced each other in postseason play, but High Point leads the all-time series, 6-1. The Panthers were victorious, 25-7, earlier in the season. The 25 goals was an HPU record for goals in a game.
