Vote For Michael: Senior CLASS Award

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's lacrosse team hits the road for the final time in the 2017 season with a contest at Jacksonville on Saturday at noon.

The Panthers (3-9, 1-4) have erased second-half deficits in each of their last two games, but haven't been able to complete their comeback attempts. On the other hand, the Dolphins (2-9, 2-3) are coming off back-to-back Southern Conference wins and still have a shot at making the SoCon Tournament.

Quick Hitters:
• The Panthers fought back from a five-goal deficit to pull within one at 8-7 against Furman on Saturday in Vert Stadium. However, the Paladins posted a 5-1 edge in the final frame to earn the victory.

• Nick Basile doubled his career high in points in a game with four. The senior tallied his first career hat trick while also tallying an assist.

• Fellow senior Sean Harrison dished out two assists for the second straight game. The midfielder-turned-attackman leads the Panthers with a dozen helpers on the year.

• For the eighth straight game Tim Troutner racked up double figures in assists with 10 stops against Furman. The keeper also posted career highs in ground balls (7) and caused turnovers (4).

• Michael LeClair tallied two goals in the contest to become the third Panther to reach 80 career goals.

• With Mick Horrocks chipping in with an assist, the HPU senior class accounted for 10 of the Purple & White's 13 points including six of the team's eight goals.

• Michael LeClair is one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award, which recognizes the contributions of four-year student-athletes for their contributions on the field, in the classroom and in the community. It's the second consecutive season HPU has had a finalist after Dan Lomas garnered the accolade in 2016. (Vote)

• Despite being one of the most prolific goal-scorers in HPU history, LeClair has only tallied one goal in four career meetings with the Dolphins. However, he has dished out 2.0 assists per game in the series.

• Along with being in the top-20 in the nation in saves per game and save percentage, Troutner is 24th nationally in caused turnovers per game (1.50/game).

• The Panthers rank 19th in the country with 7.42 caused turnovers per outing as Tanner Landstra has 13 on the spring.

• Jacksonville started the season dropping nine straight games, but the squad has responded in the last two weeks. The Dolphins tallied a 16-10 victory over VMI then backed that up with a 13-7 triumph over Mercer last weekend.

All-Time Series with Jacksonville
The Dolphins claimed the first ever meeting between the two programs with a 9-8 win in March of 2013. However, in 2014, the Panther posted two one-goal victories before following that up with  a three-goal win in 2015 and a 14-10 victory in Vert Stadium last season. The Panthers are 1-1 in Jacksonville, 2-0 at home and 1-0 in the conference tournament.

Last Time They Met
Michael LeClair dished out five assists while Dan Lomas racked up five goals as the Purple & White earned a 14-10 triumph over the Dolphins on April 16, 2016 in Vert Stadium. Defensively, Tim Troutner Jr. came up huge with 15 saves while Tanner Landstra caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls in the contest.

Senior Day is Next
High Point will honor its 10 seniors prior to next Saturday's showdown with Air Force in Vert Stadium with the opening face-off coming at noon.
