HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's lacrosse team begins its Southern Conference slate on Friday at 7 p.m. against VMI in Lexington, Va.

The Panthers are off to a 2-5 start on the year while the Keydets are 1-3 against non-conference foes and opened their SoCon schedule with a 13-8 setback to Richmond.

Last Time Out:
• Last Saturday, the Panthers fell behind at Providence early and couldn't recover taking a 17-8 setback on Saturday in a cold and breezy contest in Rhode Island.

• After snapping his 46-game scoring streak against Robert Morris,
Michael LeClair came alive scoring three goals and adding an assist to finish the day with four points.

• Joining LeClair,
Sean Harrison posted a career-high four points on Saturday. His three assists were also a career high for the Maryland product.

Tim Troutner Jr. registered his fifth 14-plus save performance making 17 stops against the Friars.

Dalton Sulver became the 12th Panther to score his first goal in an HPU uniform this spring when he got loose in transition and scored against Providence.

Tanner Landstra paced the defense making two caused turnovers and also picked up a ground ball.

Quick Hitters:
• High Point wrapped up the non-conference slate with a 2-5 mark. The program is now 17-30 in non-conference games.

• Troutner ranks fourth in the nation making 13.57 saves per contest. Including Troutner, the Southern Conference boasts three of the nation's top four goalies in terms of saves per games with the nation's leader Joe Riccadonna guarding the cage for VMI.

• Despite posting a 13-5 overall record in conference play, High Point is 1-2 in conference openers. In league road games, HPU is 5-3 in three seasons.

Connor Robinson has scored multiple goals in three of the last four contests for the Purple & White.Â

Jason Ashwood entered his junior season with nine career points. The Manchester, Md. product has 15 points already this season and is the only Panther to score in all seven of the squad's games. Similarly, Harrison joins Ashwood as the only Panthers to tally at least one point in every contest this spring.

• The Keydets defeated Richmond in double overtime to conclude the 2014 season. However, the program has dropped 14 straight SoCon games.

• The Panthers were picked to finish third in the SoCon while the Keydets were tabbed to finish eighth by the league's coaches.
