LORTON, Va. – The High Point University men's golf team placed 10th in the Patriot Intercollegiate for its second top-10 of the year. Meanwhile, freshman
Brendan MacDougall earned a sixth-place finish for his first collegiate top-10 finish.

MacDougall opened Monday's round with a par followed by two birdies to set the tone. From there, consistency was key for the Calgary, Alberta native who recorded just two bogeys en route to shooting a 70 (-1).

"Our No. 4 and No. 5 guys both stepped up and produced rounds that helped the team when we needed it today," head coach
Brady Gregor said. "It was good to move up a few spots to get our second top-10 finish of the season. MacDougall really shined as a freshman and showed some of his firepower. This is also the second week in a row that we have had an individual in the top 10. We are going to take the next two weeks to fine tune things and come back even more improved."

MacDougall's 56-hole score of 213 (71-72-70) led the Panthers throughout the weekend as HPU finished in 10th place (296-298-294, 888).

Similar to MacDougall, sophomore
Christian Casingal provided a solid round featuring 15 pars. The Charleston, W. Va. product bounced back from a tough second round on Sunday with a +1 (72) on Monday morning. The sophomore finished the tournament tied for 20th overall while recording 38 pars (t-7th).

Freshman
RJ Bartolomucci finished the tournament with a little momentum posting his best round of the weekend on Monday (75). Overall, he finished in a tie with redshirt-junior
AJ Hopkins for 93rd overall (79-77-77, 233).

Rounding out the day for High Point was freshman
Alec Weary who carded a +9 (80) to finish the tournament tied for 78th (76-73-80, 229).

The Purple & White will be back on the course at Appalachian State's Donald Ross Invitational in Morganton, N.C. on Oct. 10-11.
