HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University attackman Matt Thistle and thrower Makenzi Holmes-DiGiovine have been named Lindsay Properties HPU Student-Athletes of the Week.
 
Thistle was one of three Panthers to post six points in High Point's 14-10 win over Jacksonville on Saturday. The senior tallied a first-half assist as the Dolphins and Panthers were tied 7-7 with nine minutes left in the third. However, the Chelmsford, Mass. native exploded for four goals and an assist during HPU's 7-3 run to close out the win.
 
Holmes-DiGiovine capitalized on the squad's second home meet of the season by breaking her own discus throw record. On Friday, she notched a massive mark of 49.27m (161-8) to win the event by more than 15 feet. The throw currently ranks 28th in the NCAA East Region and also sets her up well for a potential NCAA preliminary berth.
 
HPU student-athlete of the week honors will be given to one male and one female High Point University student-athlete each Monday throughout the 2015-16 academic year.
