HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women's lacrosse team welcomes the Michigan Wolverines to the Triad Sunday for a big-time matchup inside Vert Stadium.

Tip-off between the Panthers and Wolverines is set for noon. The game will be streamed live on the Big South Network, with live stats available via highpointpanthers.com.

High Point Is coming off a 12-7 setback at Davidson Friday that snapped a three-game winning streak for the Purple & White. HPU trailed by one (6-5) with 19:28 to play, but Davidson took control of the game with a 4-0 run over the next 10 minutes to extend its edge to five (10-5). HPU could not move closer than three (10-7) for the remainder of the game.

Junior Samantha Brown led the Panthers with a team-high four goals, marking her sixth-straight game with at least three points. Freshman Samantha Herman added a pair of goals and picked up two ground balls, while senior Kristina Renner led the Panthers in draw controls (4) and ground balls (3).

DEFENSE KEY TO PANTHER SUCCESS
The key to High Point's season thus far has been on the defensive end of the field. The Panthers are 3-0 when they limit their opponents to less than 10 goals, but 0-3 when their foe scores 10 or more.

HPU held Oregon, which averages 13.5 goals per game, to just seven in a 12-7 win in Eugene on Monday. The Panthers also limited James Madison (12.0 goals/game) to nine in a win over the Dukes on Feb. 28. In wins over Villanova and Oregon, the Panthers held both opponents without a goal over the final 17+ minutes of action.

HERMAN HELPFUL FROM THE START
Freshman midfielder Samantha Herman has made an immediate impact for the Purple & White during the first six games of her HPU career. She ranks second on the team in draw controls and is averaging 2.5 goals per game over the Panthers' past two contests. She was named Big South Freshman of the Week Monday after notching three goals, three caused turnovers and four ground balls in the win at Oregon.

HISTORY vs. MICHIGAN
Sunday's matchup marks the first ever contest between HPU and Michigan in women's lacrosse.

The Wolverines are paced offensively by junior attack Tess Korten who leads the team in points (20) and goals (18) and posts an impressive .783 shot percentage.
