The Panthers are coming off a big time 15-9 victory over then-No. 21 James Madison on Sunday afternoon inside Vert Stadium.

The Panthers registered the 15-9 triumph on the strength of efficient offensive play, as HPU scored on 15 of their 24 shots (.625) and put 21 of 24 shots on goal (.875). The High Point defensive unit caused an impressive 14 turnovers, while the High Point offense was balanced and formidable throughout the day.

Molly Andrews earned Big South Defensive Player of the Week accolades after returning from injury to post 10 saves while allowing just nine goals in a full 60 minutes in the cage against the Dukes.

Andrew's performance came against against a team averaging 12 goals in three games (two against ranked teams) and had posted 18 against ACC foe Virginia Tech. Andrews made eight of her 10 saves in the second half to quell the Dukes' rally and help the Panthers earn the impressive non-conference victory.

Emily Meier (73g, 26a) is just one point away from becoming the eighth player in program history to post 100 career points. In addition, senior
Allie Foard (63g, 30a) is at 93 points and should hit the 100-point milestone in the next few games.

PROGRAM BOOSTING WINHPU's win over No. 21 JMU is arguably the Panthers' most impressive win in regular season program history. The Panthers also defeated Navy (11-10) in 2012 when Midshipmen were receiving votes in the IWLCA poll.

HISTORY vs. VILLANOVAThe Panthers and Wildcats will meet for the third time in women's lacrosse on Wednesday. HPU and Villanova have split the first two meetings. High Point defeated the Wildcats, 16-8, on March 14, 2014 in Vert Stadium and fell to Villanova, 11-10, in triple overtime last season in Philadelphia (March 21). Meier posted a then-career high four goals in last season's contest.

A LOOK AT THE WILDCATS (1-3, 0-0 BIG EAST)Villanova was picked to finish fifth out of eight teams in the 2016 BIG EAST preseason poll. The Wildcats are coming off a 9-8 season in 2015 in which the team posted a 4-3 mark in BIG EAST play. This season, Villanova dropped their first three contests to Rutgers (14-8), Cornell (7-6) and Navy (12-9) before rebounding with a 12-8 win at Bucknell on Feb. 27.

Preseason All-BIG EAST attack Jackie Froccaro leads the Wildcats in goals (10), points (13) and draw controls (11) while senior attack Meghan Breen has posted eight points (6g, 2a) in four games. Preseason All-BIG EAST defender Sam Scarfogliero has picked up seven ground balls on the year. Senior goalkeeper Jaclyn Fraum has played 171:31 of a possible 240:00 minutes in goal and has posted a 9.10 goals against average and .469 save percentage.
