Prior to Friday's game, the HPU women's lacrosse program will honor its six seniors for their outstanding contributions to the program. The senior ceremony will begin at 5:40 p.m.

The Panthers led 10-2 at the half and extended their lead to 12 (14-2) before cruising to the nine-goal victory. Junior
Leah Pace led the Panthers with a career-high five points (3g, 2a) and tallied a personal best six ground balls on the day. She also picked up two draw controls and caused a turnover in the win. Senior
Kendyl Gardner matched her career-high with five points on two goals and a personal best three assists.

GARDNER CLIMBING GOALS LISTWith two goals against Winthrop, Gardner would reach 110 goals for her career and move past current HPU assistant coach
Grace Gaeng for fourth on the all-time program goals list. With seven more, Gardner will move past
Sara Kuhlman and into third place. The Severna Park, Md., product also is just seven points away from moving into fourth place on the HPU all-time points list.

RENNER REACHING FOR RECORDJunior midfielder
Kristina Renner totaled four draw controls vs. Longwood on Sunday and has now posted 40 draws on the year. That number places her second on the HPU single season record list. She needs eight draw controls to pass Gaeng and set a new school record for draws won in a season.

HISTORY vs. WINTHROPFriday's matchup marks the fourth all-time meeting between High Point and Winthrop in women's lacrosse. HPU has posted a 3-0 record against the Eagles, including two wins last season. The Purple & White won in Rock Hill, 18-7, on April 13, 2014, and defeated the Eagles 17-8 in the 2014 Big South Semifinals.

A LOOK AT THE EAGLES (14-2, 6-0)Winthrop has put together a strong 2015 season and currently sits in first place in the Big South with a 6-0 league mark. The Eagles have secured the No. 1 seed in next week's Big South Tournament and will host the event. In the team's most recent outing, WU defeated Liberty, 17-6, in Rock Hill on Sunday.

Winthrop is led by senior attack Jenna Kasmarik, who leads the league in goals/game (4.40) and points/game (4.73). Junior midfielder Shannon Gallagher is second on the team in points (61) and fourth in the league in goals/game (2.62). Freshman goalkeeper Alaina Girani leads the conference in goals against average (7.27) and save percentage (.513).

UP NEXTHPU opens the 2015 Big South Tournament with quarterfinal action on Tuesday (April 28) at 6 p.m. The Panthers will host a quarterfinal game and will find out their opponent after Friday's slate of league games.
