WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The High Point University men's track & field team completed its first meet of the 2015 season Saturday at the Wake Forest Open at Kenter Stadium.

The Panthers gained valuable experience during the two-day meet as the squad heads into the meat of its outdoor schedule over the next few weeks.

"What a tale of two days yesterday and today was," associate head coach Eric Dudley said. "Yesterday was cold and damp, and we had a couple of experienced veterans make some missteps that cost them making finals. Today was a beautiful spring day, and we broke some records and really had an enjoyable showing."

In jumps action, junior Will Narramore posted a solid 13th place finish out of 54 competitors with a mark of 6.65m (21-10).

Junior Jim Wilson earned an 18th place showing out of 44 competitors in his 2015 discus debut after hitting a mark of 42.34m (138-11) on Saturday.

On the track, freshman James House placed 21s in the 200m dash with a time of 22.31, while fellow freshman Keegan Hanks placed 45th out of 79 the 800m run with a time of 2:00.60. Junior Nick Hula placed 27th in the 400m hurdles (59.67).

"Many of our distance runners and decathletes were off the weekend, as the gear up for their key early season efforts next weekend at Raleigh Relays for the runners and Winthrop for the decathletes," Dudley said.

The Panthers return to action at one of the most important meets of the season next weekend. A number of HPU student-athletes will look to put together NCAA-caliber times and marks at the Raleigh Relays March 27-28.

In addition, a pod of Panthers will head to Rock Hill, S.C. for the Winthrop Invitational March 27-28.
