WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The High Point University men's track & field team kicked off the 2015 outdoor season with day one of competition at the Wake Forest Open Friday.
 
HPU put together a number of solid top-15 finishes amongst a strong field of competitors in Winston-Salem.
 
Highlighting the day, the Panthers earned a pair of top-5 finishes in the pole vault. Junior Austin Miller finished third with a mark of 4.80m (15-9) while freshman Todd Uckermark made his outdoor debut with a fourth-place finish (4.65m, 15-3).
 
Junior Dennis Crawford posted a time of 14.97 seconds to place 11^th in the prelims of the 110m hurdles. Crawford missed qualifying for the event final by just .15 seconds.
 
In jumps action, junior Will Narramore finished 10^th out of 30 participants in the triple jump with a mark of 13.66m (44-9.75).
 
Redshirt-senior John Yankello earned a 13^th-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:07.10 while junior Nick Hula placed 49^th in the 400m dash in a time of 51.22.
 
Junior Jim Wilson opened the outdoor season with a 27^th-place finish in the shot put. The Nashville, Tenn., native posted a mark of 12.85m (42-2).
 
In the B-Section of the pole vault, junior Harris Coley placed fourth with a mark of 4.10m (13-5.25).
 
HPU wraps up competition at the Wake Forest Open Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
