HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women's cross country team is back in action Friday at the Blue Ridge Open in Boone, N.C.
The women's 5k race begins at 4 p.m. and features 13 teams from the region. The Panthers will be joined in Boone by No. 26 NC State, as well as USTFCCCA Southeast regionally-ranked teams Wake Forest (No. 5) and Furman (No. 8). The meet also includes Big South foes Coastal Carolina, Gardner-Webb and Radford, as well as host Appalachian State, East Carolina, Lees-McRae, Lenoir Rhyne, Northern Kentucky, UNCG and Winston-Salem State.
The Panthers suit up for the first time in three weeks after placing 10th amongst a strong field at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational on Sept. 26.
HPU was paced in Charlottesville by junior Jeff LaCoste, who placed 17
th (24:34.13) en route to earning Big South Runner of the Week honors. Sophomore
Cozette Collin led HPU with a 41st-place finish, crossing the finish line in 22:46.50. Junior
Katie Farina was 57th in 23:17.32, improving 33 spots from her finish at the Virginia event in 2013.
