Feb. 27, 2012 - Women's golf shoots season-best round of 300 at Kiawah Island
FULL STORY
The High Point University women's golf team shot a season-best round of 300 on the second day of the Kiawah Island Classic. It was High Point's best round since shooting a combined 299 at the Big South Championship in 2005.
Sophomore
Angela Gimenez carded a career-low 70, two-under par, to lead HPU that day. Gimenez knocked in four birdies including two on the front nine where she shot a two-under 34. She finished the tournament in a tie for 17th overall. The three-round 225 is a season-best 54-hole score for Gimenez and the mark ties Kate O'Sullivan from the 2004-05 year as the second-best 54-hole score since HPU joined Division I.
Junior
Audra McShane finished the event with a 241 (85-77-79) while fellow junior
Jessica Neese shot a three-day 244 (82-76-86).
Freshman
Kaila Tuccio finished the tournament one-stroke behind Neese with a three-day 245 (84-77-84). Freshman
Grier Bennett scored a 248 for the tournament.
