The High Point University's women's lacrosse team dominated Howard, winning 19-1 on Friday afternoon at Vert Stadium. Sara Kuhlman led the Panthers with four goals. Kelsy Mugele and Alec Perry each added hat tricks for HPU. Goalie Lauren Hayes recorded seven saves.

"Overall it was a good team performance," said HPU head coach Lyndsey Boswell. "Kelsy Mugele did a good job and stood out on the attack. Alec Perry and Sara Kuhlman stood out in the midfield and Lauren did a great job in the cage allowing just one goal. We'll be looking to carry this momentum into the next couple NLC games and we're excited for our last home game this Sunday against Detroit."

The win improved High Point to 8-3 overall, 2-1 in the National Lacrosse Conference. Howard fell to 3-8 overall and 0-4 overall.

Kulhman, Mugele and Perry each added an assist and Mugele grabbed four ground balls. Midfielder Heather Ziccarelli and attacker Sara Noyes each connected on two goals for HPU. Zicarelli added three ground balls. Attacker Mackenzie Carroll scored a goal and had two assists. Attacker Chelsea Thompson netted a goal and four ground balls. High Point outshot Howard 31-10, including 23-6 in the first half.

Attacker Cynithia Smalls scored Howard's lone goal. Goalie Amber Meeks had six saves for the Bison.

HPU jumped out to an early lead as Kuhlman netted a score in the game's first two minutes. Then Jasmine Jordan scooped up a turnover and found Alexis Goldman who quickly dished to Carroll for HPU's second score with 24:56 remaining until half. Grace Gaeng pushed HPU's lead to 6-0 after scoring her team-leading 33rd goal of the season with 17:48 remaining in the first half. High Point finished the half strongly as Perry scored twice in the final 2:10 of the first half to give High Point a 13-1 lead heading into intermission.

Kuhlman scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the second half to give her 20 goals for the season. High Point controlled possession for much of the second half, while running down the clock. Noyes finished off the scoring with her fourth goal of the season with 6:06 remaining to make it 19-1.
