The High Point Panthers scratched out a season-best 19 services aces on their way to a 3-0 (30-13, 30-11, 30-15) sweep over Triad-rival Winston-Salem State on Tuesday night at the Millis Athletic Center.

Seven different players tallied an ace in the squad's 24th victory of the year as High Point improved to 24-7. The win was the Panthers fifth straight and 15th in their last 16 contests. It also allowed HPU to end the regular season with an undefeated 12-0 record this season against in-state opponents. WSSU fell to 4-23 on the year with the loss.

"We are really pleased to get this victory and extend our current win streak," said HPU head coach Chad Esposito. "I was very proud of how our team played focused from the start of this match. Everyone on our roster has performed well when they have been called upon this season and this match was no different. We hope to continue our solid play and carry our momentum through the rest of the season."

Senior Whitney Kaltenegger topped the list of HPU service line performers with five aces. HPU all-time career ace leader Jamie Kaufman chipped in four aces while sophomore Audie Gonzalez also recorded four service winners.

Kaufman scored 11 kills and hit .600 to lead a Panther offense that finished the match with a season-best .514 hitting percentage. A trio of Panther hitters posted errorless hitting performances including Kaltenegger (8 kills, .727), Stephanie Wallin (7 kills, .467) and Megan Kaminskas (6 kills, .667).

Sophomore Lyndsey Rowley led the HPU defensive backline with 11 digs while freshman setter Anna Wiggs handed out a career-best 16 assists.

Ashley Harris led the Lady Rams with eight kills. WSSU finished with just 15 kills for the match and hit a -.031 for the match.

High Point's strong service performance allowed the team to take early leads. HPU led 8-1 in game one, 15-4 in game two and 17-5 in game three. The Panthers recorded runs of five or more points from the service line six times including a two from both Kaltenegger and Kaufman. Gonzalez tallied a six-point run at the end of game one that included four consecutive service aces.

High Point will close out the regular and Big South Conference schedule on Saturday when the Panthers host defending league champion Winthrop at 2 p.m., at the Millis Center. HPU's senior class (Kaltenegger, Kaufman and Ashley Johnson) will be honored in a pre-match ceremony.
