The High Point University volleyball team used a solid performance from its entire lineup on Tuesday night to get back on the winning track with a 3-0 (30-13, 30-25, 30-16) sweep of Winston-Salem State.

The Panthers (2-12) snapped a nine-match skid with the convincing victory that saw all 15 HPU players on the roster earn some playing time. The loss marked the seventh in a row for WSSU, dropping them to 2-18 on the year.

"We came out focused from the start and really played a solid match," said HPU head coach Chad Esposito. "I thought we did a good job of staying consistent throughout the match and taking care of business. It was nice to have the opportunity to get all our players into some game action. This is hopefully a momentum builder for us as we head back into Big South play this weekend."

Twelve different HPU players recorded kills in the match with sophomore Ashley Mellott leading the way with nine. Sabrina Wahid chipped in eight and connected at a .462 clip for the match. Rachel Schamberger  tallied season best marks in kills (6) and blocks (3).

Most of High Point's regular starters played in the opening game but then gave way to the reserves for the remainder of the contest. Sophomore setter Kristina Taylor did play in all three frames handing out 36 assists in sparking HPU to a season-high .333 hitting performance. Taylor also served up a personal best five aces on the night and recorded three blocks and a team-leading seven digs.

True freshmen Ashley Plume and Caroline Miler both appeared in all three games making their collegiate debuts for HPU. Fellow freshmen Lyndsay Rowley and Tara Dyer also saw extended in the match.

A trio of Ram players finished with six kills each with Annika Barnwell and Kendall Sutton each posting 11 digs to pace the Winston-Salem State defense.

High Point next returns to Big South Conference play this weekend when they make the league's "Beach Trip" to face Charleston Southern (Friday) and Coastal Carolina (Saturday).
