Box Score The High Point University volleyball team suffered a disappointing 3-0 (30-24, 30-27, 30-19) non-conference loss at Gardner-Webb on Tuesday night.
The Panthers slipped to 6-16 overall on the year with the defeat. The Bulldogs, who will be joining the Big South Conference next season, improved to 11-15 overall with the win.
"This was a disappointing outcome," said HPU head coach Chad Esposito. "We played hard all night long but we just never got into a flow. We started solidly but then went flat several times during the match and had some mental lapses. We have been practicing on our consistency but that is an area that we continue to struggle with at times."
Freshman Audie Gonzalez was the lone HPU hitter in double figures finishing with a team-best 10 kills. She also chipped in 13 digs. Sophomore Lauren Hatch paced the Panther defense with 18 digs.
Audra Harrison led Gardner-Webb with 15 kills and 13 digs while Katie Matykowski added 18 digs.
High Point returns to Big South Conference play this weekend with a pair of important road contests at Birmingham-Southern (Saturday) and UNC Asheville (Sunday).
