The Panthers have won three in a row for the first time since the 1998 season, and improve to 6-7. The homestanding Spartans drop to 1-10.

Kim Anderson and 13 digs from Pickens.
High Point tallied a whopping 20 service aces, led by Pickens' seven and Anderson's five.
"We were very flat and up-and-down in the first three games tonight, but we hung in there and came back to win games one and three," HPU head coach
Chad Esposito said. "That's a great sign for our program.
"We obviously served extremely well tonight. It was a big reason why we were able to hang around even though we weren't playing as well. If it wasn't for our serving, we would have been in big trouble."
The Panthers trailed 27-24 in game one and fought off game points at 30-29 and 31-30 before coming back to take the opener behind three-straight kills from Kaufman. After the Spartans tied things up with a 30-25 win in game two, the Panthers found themselves down again. Trailing 28-24, HPU rallied to tie the game at 29-29, and Kaufman served out the game with a pair of aces.
Tied 10-10 in game four, the Panthers put together a monster 15-0 run to take a commanding 25-10 lead. Pickens had five aces and Mahoney added two kills and a block during the hot streak, which eventually led to a 30-14 win.
The Panthers beat their neighbors from 15 miles to the northeast for the second-consecutive season.
"Tara, Lindsey and Jamie had great offensive games, and we just need to do a better job of cleaning up the little things to make our team better," Esposito said. "Hopefully this winning streak will give us some momentum as we head into conference play."
The Panthers open their Big South slate with a pair of home matches this weekend against Coastal Carolina (7:00 pm Friday) and Charleston Southern (2:00 pm Sunday). Admisson in the Millis Center is free.
