CHARLOTTE, N.C. – On Wednesday afternoon, the Big South Conference announced the women's track and field athletes of the week. The High Point University Panthers received two awards winning the Track Athlete of the Week honor for the 4x100m relay team and the Field Athlete of the Week award given to
Ashlyn Giles.
The 4x100m relay team competed at the Aggie Invite hosted by NC A&T and placed fourth with a new program record time of 44.89 seconds. The squad consisted of
Zamesha Myle,
Kaia Putman,
Gabrielle Crane, and
Quiana Williams.
Giles competed at the Wake Forest Invitational in the shot put and discus. She won her sixth straight shot put title of the outdoor season after throwing 16.16m. In the discus she threw 52.35m for second place in the event. This was Giles' third Field Athlete of the Week award this outdoor season.
High Point travels to UNC Charlotte for the Charlotte Invitational on Friday April 24 and Saturday April 25.
