CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced the women's track and field athletes of the week on Wednesday afternoon naming
Mya Hines and
Zamesha Myle to the list from High Point University. Hines was named the Field Athlete of the Week and Myle was named the Track Athlete of the Week. Hines and Myle both competed at the 44 Farms Invite at Texas A&M.
Hines competed in her first heptathlon of the season last weekend. In Hines' four events on day one, she registered three new personal bests. In the first event of the heptathlon, she recorded a personal best 14.45 time in the 100m hurdles. She then jumped a personal best 1.78m clear in the high jump, threw a 10.81m throw in the shot put and finished the day with a personal best 24.97 time in the 200m.
Hines followed up day one with a strong finish, completing a new personal best heptathlon behind 5,141 points for a top-10 finish. She jumped 5.37m in the long jump, threw the javelin 26.35m, and ran the 800m in 2:27.26 to cap the meet.
Myle placed third in the women's triple jump registering a leap of 12.91m. She also participated in the 100m and 200m events and recorded an 11.65 time in the 100m and a 23.96 time in the 200m.
High Point competes at the Wake Forest Invitational, Aggie Invitational and the Winthrop Invitational on Thursday, April16 through Saturday, April 18.
