Johnston to Participate in State Farm College Slam Dunk & Three-Point Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The State Farm College Slam Dunk & Three-Point Championships invited High Point University men's basketball player, Chase Johnston to participate on Friday, April 3rd at 7:00 PM ET at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Final Four.

Johnston has always been a three-point shooting dynamite but this past weekend during the NCAA March Madness Tournament, he showed the world exactly why he ranks in the top 25 all-time in three pointers made. Johnston rounded out his college career with 418 made threes on 39.92% shooting. At the first and second round games this past weekend, he proved to have one of the purest and quickest shots in college basketball while being compared to big names like Steph Curry and JJ Reddick. His pull-up three from the March Madness logo with 25 seconds on the shot clock in the win over No. 5 Wisconsin gained viral attention as one of the craziest shots this year from the tournament.

During the 2025-26 season, Johnston helped guide the Panthers to their second Big South title in program history and its second NCAA Tournament berth. HPU defeated No. 5 Wisconsin in the first-round game to advance to the second round for the first-time in program history. Johnston, having only registered 68 three pointers the entire season, scored his first two-pointer for the game winning basket. He finished the season shooting a season-best 48.64% (71-146) from beyond the arc while contributing 15 assists and 23 steals.

Johnston becomes the third player in program history to be invited to the College Slam Dunk & Three-point shooting contest. In 2012 Nick Barbour represented HPU in the three-point shooting contest and in 2013 Corey Law participated in the slam dunk contest. Law currently travels the world with the Harlem Globetrotters and has been a member since 2013.

The State Farm College Slam Dunk & Three-Point Championships will be broadcast nationally at 1:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 5 on ESPN.
