Dan Hauser is proud to announce a three-year contract extension for HPU Women's Golf Head Coach
Lyndsey Hunnell on Friday.

Dan Hauser said. "Lyndsey has positioned HPU women's golf into a national level program, winning nine tournaments and improving our team rank over 117 positions. We are very excited to renew Lyndsey's contract, and I look forward to seeing her lead the Panthers to multiple conference and tournament championships in the future. It's a great day for HPU women's golf!"
Since being hired in 2022, Hunnell has taken the HPU Women's Golf program to new heights. She's a two-time Big South Conference Coach of the Year and has coached three Big South Golfer of the Year honorees, one Big South Newcomer of the Year, two Big South Freshman of the Year winners, 12 Big South All-Conference golfers, while 20 student-athletes have been named Big South Freshman of the Week, 18 have earned Big South Golfer of the Week and 13 garnered a WCGA All-American Scholar accolade.
Hunnell has led the Panthers to nine tournament wins, including the most in a single-season in 2024-25 with five wins and the most career wins for a head coach, while mentoring six individual medalist, two Big South medalist and a pair of NCAA Regional Individual qualifiers.

With Hunnell at the helm, the Panthers have shattered 14 program records and continued to rise in the national rankings. High Point has gone from No. 177 to as high as No. 60 amid Hunnell's fourth season, where she has the highest win percentage (73.73%) for a coach in program history.
In her first year (2022-2023), Hunnell took the Panthers to Big South Match Play Finals for the first time in program history behind the program's first Big South Golfer of the Year and second-ever conference medalist in Sarah Kahn. As the Big South Medalist, Kahn also was the first women's golfer to finish Top-10 at a NCAA Regional and the Panthers' first-ever Big South NCAA Woman of the Year honoree. The Panthers won two tournaments as Hunnell's first as a head coach came at the Grandover Classic.
Hunnell's second season (2023-2024) saw the program earn its second straight Big South Golfer of the Year (
Ella Perna) and second-ever Big South Freshman of the Year (
Anna Howerton), while winning the inaugural Big South Newcomer of the Year (
Julia McLaughlin). The Panthers finished top-10 in all 10 events and won two of them.
In 2024-25, Hunnell's team crushed nine program records and soared to a program single-season best five tournaments wins. The Panthers were crowned with multiple accolades in Big South Golfer of the Year (
Anna Howerton), Big South Freshman of the Year (
Anais Arafi) and Big South Medalist (
Julia McLaughlin). McLaughlin became the fourth HPU women's golfer to win the conference and advance to NCAA Regionals as an individual.
So far in her fourth season (2025-26), the Panthers placed third or higher in all five fall tournaments, while earning the Big South Preseason Golfer of the Year (
Makayla Grubb) for the third straight season. HPU won five Big South Freshman of the Week awards and had three Big South Golfer of the Week honorees through the fall.
