CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced the final indoor women's track and field regular-season weekly awards on Wednesday afternoon. High Point University had a clean sweep as
Gianna Paul was named the Track Athlete of the Week,
Ashlyn Giles was named the Field Athlete of the Week and
Kendall Hicks was named the Freshman of the Week.
Paul earned her first weekly award this indoor season after posting a strong outing at the Virginia Tech Challenge. She placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a season-best time 8.66 and second in the long jump with a mark of 5.82 meters.
Giles earned her fourth weekly award this season for her efforts in the women's throwing events at Virginia Tech. She placed fifth in the women's weight throw with a mark of 16.14m and placed third in the shot put with a throw of 15.99m.
Hicks had another stellar week in the sprints and earned her fifth consecutive freshman of the week award. At VT, she placed third in the women's 200m with a 24.77 time.
High Point prepares for the Big South Indoor Championships in Tryon, N.C. on February 27-28.
