CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two Panthers were selected as the Big South Men's Track and Field Athletes of the week.
Tim Brown and
Ricardo Montes de Oca of the High Point University men's track and field team made the list.
Brown was named the Track Athlete of the Week for the first time this season after a strong outing at the Doc Hale Invitational hosted by Virginia Tech. He won the men's 400m race with a 47.63 time.
Montes de Oca also competed at the Doc Hale Invitational and was named the Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this season after breaking his own program and Big South record for the second time this season. Montes de Oca jumped 5.68 meters to finish second in the field. As a team, the men's pole vault group is ranked No. 2 in the USTFCCCA while Montes de Oca ranks No. 6 individually in the TFRRS Indoor rankings.
the Panthers will compete next at the Tiger Paw Invitational and the Asics Sound Running Invite during the weekend of February 13-14.
