CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Olivia Purdy, after her first collegiate meet, was named Big South Freshman of the Week. The Big South announced Wednesday afternoon after the conclusion of the Friday Night Lights Elon Opener. 

Purdy finished as the top High Point University Panther on Friday night as she placed 18th with a time of 14:20.8. Purdy competed at a very high level throughout the meet. She continued to push herself in order to stay towards the top. Her pace per kilometer clocked in at three minutes and 35 seconds. After attending Romeo High School in Michigan, Purdy will look to stay dominant in the Big South Conference as she started off her collegiate career almost as best as she can.
