HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Field of 68 Mid-Major Top 25 preseason polls were announced on Thursday, September 18, 2025. The Panthers were picked No. 4 among other mid-major programs in the country, behind Liberty University, UC Irvine and Illinois State University.
During the 2024-25 season, High Point made history by winning its first-ever Big South Tournament title to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. HPU finished with an overall record of 29-6, which tied for the most wins in Big South program history (Winthrop, 2006-07) and the most wins in HPU program history. The Panthers finished the regular season with a 26-5 record and a 14-2 league record. The 26 regular-season wins was the most in program history and tied the Big South regular-season wins record with Coastal Carolina's 2010-11 season (26-4).
Ahead of the 2025-26 season High Point returns eight players from the 2024-25 Big South Championship team, three of which played significant minutes, while bringing in 11 newcomers, including eight transfers. The transfers include
Vincent Brady II (Missouri State),
Rob Martin (SEMO),
Babacar Diallo (Missouri-Kansas City),
Owen Aquino (Liberty),
Conrad Martinez (Arizona),
Cam'Ron Fletcher (Xavier),
Scotty Washington (CSUN), and
Youssouf Singare (UConn).
"This is a great place to be," Head Coach
Flynn Clayman stated on the Field of 68 YouTube Live interview. "We have the support from the top of the alignment, President Qubein, to Athletic Director
Dan Hauser on down. With that alignment at a school like this we are able to get things done. I feel like we are in about as good of a place that we can be with what we lost. We lost a great head coach, four all-conference players, the defensive player of the year, newcomer of the year, and the MVP of the conference tournament, so we lost a ton but we are really excited about our new pieces and we are looking forward to it."
High Point begins the 2025-26 season with an exhibition game at reigning CAA Champs UNCA on October 18 at Trask Coliseum in Wilmington, North Carolina before hosting a home exhibition on October 25 against NC A&T.
The Panthers will play their first regular-season game of the season in the "Field of 68 Opening Day Marathon" in Rock Hill, S.C. on November 3 against Furman University.
