HIGH POINT, N.C. — The preseason accolades continue to roll in for
Jefferson Amaya and
Brendan Krueger as TopDrawerSoccer has tabbed the High Point University men's soccer duo to the TDS Preseason Men's National Top 100 list, which was released on Tuesday afternoon.
Amaya is ranked No. 26 while being named to the TDS Preseason Third Team Best XI; meanwhile, Krueger was slated at No. 91 to represent the Panthers. Amaya makes his second straight appearance on the preseason top 100 list, moving up the after being No. 43 in 2024 as Krueger joins him after receiving mid-season recognition at No. 79 a season ago.
A native from Clearwater, Fla., Krueger is the reigning Big South Conference Midfielder of the Year after a stellar junior campaign that featured many career-best feats.
He started in every game played (17) and recorded a team-leading 20 points behind a career-best six goals and eight assists. Krueger logged a career-high 1,343 minutes and scored his first game-winning goal in a his first four-point match versus Longwood on October 11.
Krueger has been named to two preseason watch lists as the United Soccer Coaches named him to the Players to Watch List as a midfielder after earning all-south region honors from the organization in 2024, while he was named to the Big South Top Returners to Watch list. The conference head coaches also selected him as the 2025 Big South Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.
A native from Charlotte, N.C., Amaya is the reigning Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Year after being named Big South Offensive Player of the Year in 2023 and Big South Freshman of the Year in 2022. He is the only student-athlete in the nation to win all three awards in three consecutive years.
The three-time United Soccer Coaches All-Region player is coming off a 2024 season, where he played two different positions and impacted the field in all phases.
He started in all 16 games played, helping the Panthers to seven shutouts and only 14 goals allowed. The 6-foot-1 defensive midfielder scored three goals and dished out six assists while converting his one penalty kick attempt.
Amaya has been named to two preseason watch lists after the United Soccer Coaches named him to the Players to Watch List as a defender and the Big South tabbed him to the Top Returners to Watch List as well as the Big South Preseason Midfielder of the Year.
