HIGH POINT, N.C. - The High Point University women's rowing team has announced its 2025 fall race schedule.
Head Coach Jessica Deitrick: "The team and coaching staff are excited to continue our building process this year. Last year was a great starting point and the plan this year is to build upon that and work on establishing a strong foundation for the program. This fall, we have three races lined up where we will get to test our speed and work on some foundational skills in order to help prepare us for the spring season. Overall I am really excited for the year ahead, we have a great group of women who love being here at HPU and are excited to put in the necessary work to create a top tier rowing program."
After the 2024-25 inaugural season on the water, Deitrick and staff are looking forward to year two as the Panthers will get the chance to compete for a Mid-American Conference Championship in the spring.
The Panthers will start the fall season back where they started it last season, at the High Point Autumn Rowing Festival hosted by Triad United Rowing at Oak Hollow Lake. This race is scheduled for October 5 in High Point. The competition for this regatta has not yet been announced so the Panthers are eager to hear who they will be up against. Last year, the Panthers raced against a few collegiate and international crews that brought out a great crowd at HPU's home lake.
Just about a week later, HPU will head south to the Sunshine State and compete in the First Coast Head Race in Jacksonville, Florida on October 11. HPU will race against Jacksonville University and University of Central Florida, who finished the 2025 season ranked No. 15 in the country.
Wrapping up the fall schedule, the Panthers will go back to Fairfax Station, Virginia for the Head of the Occoquan on November 1. This field usually has a good mix of competition while racing on a beautiful course.
These three races will set the tone for the 2025-26 Panthers as they look to compete for a MAC Championship in Ypsilanti, Michigan on May 15 and 16.
